Purgatory Debunked

Is there Purgatory or not? The Roman Catholic Church really quotes the Apocrypha (which will soon be elaborated hopefully by any new) which is namely 2 Maccabees 12:43-46 but face it, these books are NOT inspired by Scripture, even some of the early church fathers did not accept the Apocrypha as Scripture which will soon be elaborated.

In the Catholic catechism, Purgatory is described as, " "All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation, but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven." in Catechism of the Catholic Church, paragraph 1030. The Second Vatican Council, p. 63, says, "The truth has been divinely revealed that sins are followed by punishments. Gods holiness and justice inflict them. Sins must be expiated. This may be done on this earth through the sorrows, miseries and trials of this life and, above all, through death. Otherwise the expiation must be made in the next life through fire and torments or purifying punishments.". Hmmm... is that Biblical teaching? Not if WE continue to look at the Word of God!

The state of grace of the Roman Catholic Church is that a person enters into Purgatory through the... SACRAMENTS! Listen, sacrament in actual terminology is a sign or a pledge NOT something that causes one to enter into the state of grace. In other words, it means that what Jesus did on the cross (according to Catholic teaching or any similar Purgatory believing cult) would not be enough and that if a person dies, they must first enter into Purgatory. Since the Bible teaches of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ, then Purgatory becomes an absurd idea especially in the light that John 19:30 has Jesus COMPLETING the work on Calvary. I can sing, "Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, sin has left a crimson stain, He washes white as snow." and funny how I hear that song during Lent and MANY Catholics still believe they can't be sure.

And here's what- these Masses REQUIRE MONEY. How can I say that? Being a former Roman Catholic myself, indulgences were bought before November 2 or on the death anniversary. These relatives were dead for SO LONG in the case of my great-grandfather it's been 66 years already since he's dead- he died during World War 2 and UNTIL NOW, masses are still being said for his soul! What the? It reminded me of what Victor J. Affonso a former Jesuit priest would ask his Jesuit superior about Purgatory and how many masses had to be said, and then when he checked the Bible, he found out that it doesn't exist!

Hebrews 9:27 says, "For as it is appointed unto man once to die but AFTER THIS the Judgment.". That is NOTHING in between at all. That means if the person has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior apart from EVERYTHING else like good works, religion, etc. then the person can KNOW for sure they have eternal life (John 14:6, Romans 4:5, Romans 10:9-13 1 John 5:13,) because the Bible SAYS SO. The story of the rich man and Lazarus proves that there is no Purgatory. Luke 16:19-31 proves there is no Purgatory. Lazarus went straight to Heaven, the rich man went straight to Hell and stupidly, some Catholic apologist even tried to tell me the rich man was in Purgatory when EVEN the Catholic translations say the rich man went to Hell. The chasm is NOT Purgatory as NOTHING could cross in between Heaven and Hell.

Unfortunately many people are still trusting their own good works which are BUT filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6) and that they CANNOT keep the whole Law (Romans 3:19-20, James 2:10-11), their doctrine of salvation by works is a sure road to Hellfire and NO amount of prayers in the Universe will EVER redeem a dead person who died rejecting Jesus Christ.

This entry is subject to elaboration soon!
