Is Interracial Marriage Acceptable Between Christians? Yes!

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.- Galatians 3:28

Here's another issue worth tackling as someone can ask is interracial marriage acceptable when it's between two Christians who by virtue can be married legally? The answer would definitely be a YES! First, it's best to review the fact that marriages between believers and unbelievers are NEVER acceptable to God and should be avoided (2 Corinthians 6:14-15, Ephesians 5:21). The reason why God did not allow the Israelites to intermarry with the Canaanites was not that they were not Israelites but because they were idolaters lest their children will reject the faith and be unsaved.

However interracial marriages between believers are totally acceptable before God. That means it's okay for Christians of different races within God's Law to marry one another regardless of what their color is. Here are some Bible examples of God allowing intermarriage:
  • Joseph and Asenath. After Asenath became a believer, there was nothing wrong with the marriage anymore.
  • Moses and Zipporah. Well, Zipporah despite the fact she was an Ethiopian woman, was converted to the worship of Jehovah as well. Later, it became sinful for Miriam to spit at her for being an Ethiopian because she already belonged to God's family.
  • Salmon and Rahab. Rahab was supposed to perish with the other Canaanites at God's command and will but when she switched sides from idolatry to the worship of the true and the living God, she became part of God's people and she and Salmon bore Boaz.
  • Boaz and Ruth. Ruth was a Moabite, an enemy of God's people but when she embraced the true and the living God, the marriage was made permissible. They were both believers.

So in short, the intermarriage was permissible because they are BOTH believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. It would be a lot more wrong to marry a person of the same race but not in Christ and there is nothing wrong to marry a person of a different race but is in Christ Jesus. The values between culture are reconciled when both are in Christ throws away the paganism of every culture. After all, Jesus Christ did not die only for the Jews but also for the non-Jewish too. Of course, that is provided it's a valid marriage that means NOT homosexuality, incest or polygamy or any sexually wrong unions.
