Eccesiastes 5:10-12 - He That Loves Silver Will Not Be Satisfied With Silver

Ecclesiastes 5:10-12- "He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep."

Silver was the form of currency during the olden times. Remember everything was purchased in silver, including slaves. Joseph the dreamer was sold for 20 pieces of silver by his envious brethren and later, the Lord Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver by Judas Iscariot. The whole deal is this- people are in fact, think mostly of the temporal than the eternal. Reading through the succeeding verses until verse 17, one can see that money is but something that is left behind when one dies. However most people today behave like as if they can bring their money with them when they die evidenced by this fact- their greed is carried with them even until their old age. Just imagine that it has become a major cause that siblings refuse to reunite all because of money which is even dragged all the way to the death bed.

Other people work too hard to gain the top positions yet they are miserable. Many of the world's richest men have all the fame and fortune but they are not happy. Some people will even do more despicable things because of money. Since an honest profession like selling basic goods doesn't guarantee fast money, others have gotten into the world of unethical businesses like pornography, prostitution, divorce, liquor, narcotics, weapons of mass destruction and whatever... you name it and even false religion stems out because of a love for money! Why? Because they can take advantage of shallow minded people. You have people believing that pornography will satisfy their cravings, that sex is not meant for the marriage bed, it's okay to divorce your spouse, nothing is wrong with liquor and narcotics, violence is the solution to everything and even people being cashed out because people take advantage of sinful supply and demand as a means to make money.

Int the world of religion, ill gotten money controls it. Roman Catholicism for example has been cashing out with people with that, with every ritual they make or religious items they give out especially the images for worship, devoted Roman Catholics HAVE TO PAY especially for masses that don't end until they're forgotten by the obituaries or by the priests and that's a very sad fact. The Pentecostal and charismatic rallies cash in by making people "invest" with them like a bank only to run away with them, by the fake miracles that do not work because it's all an act, by speaking in tongues that are no tongues and by selling conspiracy theories which is best left alone and their originators ignored. False religions of the world are ran based on monetary profit in the long run, never for the spiritual salvation of people as they claim.

When people get more, they still want more, they are never satisfied with what they have because the flesh craves more. Many rich people today don't stay with just being rich, they want to get richer. A rich man may own a good franchise yet because of the love of money, it could make him charge unjust fees to those who franchise his company or he could eventually end up into entering into drug dealing and prostitution for easier bucks than he had in establishing his well-known franchise. Another example is how Roman Catholicism has expanded. Not satisfied with just getting payments for a few rituals, they have gotten as far as crazy as to charge every move and another, the Crusades, the Inquisition by the Dominicans and the Jesuit order by Ignatius of Loyola became a means to grab any land that the incumbent Pope wanted for himself. Make no mistake- whoever becomes the Pope is the richest man on Earth and the Vatican makes more money than Apple and Microsoft combined and most Catholics are NOT even aware of it.

And what about the sleep of the laborer vs the rich man? Sad but true, the average worker can sleep better than the rich man today. Please note that this is NOT necessarily to where the rich man is a crook or anything. The rich man may have been blessed by God for some reason and is a Christian. However, the rich can stay awake worrying at times because of investments they have made or thinking of their next plan. A generous rich man can stay awake worrying about the welfare of all his laborers who are receiving better sleep than he has. Also, it can apply to those who are greedy and getting wealthy because of unethical means. Why? There is such a thing as easy money is easy come, easy go. These greedy businessmen and crime lords fear they could lose all their dirty money in an instant as there is a curse that goes along with it. Also, crime lords can fear the possibility of arrests that could immediately end their power or worse, face execution which they really deserve. Like as it is, a crime lord may have all the money he wants but he can't enjoy it driving his car around the city or going to the malls in fear of the police going after him.

As said, true satisfaction is only found in God.
