Cain and the Atheist

Some people try to look at Cain as the religious person, but what they might ignore is the possibility  that Cain may have become the first atheist.  Remember that manmade religion is nothing more than displeasing to God.  When he tried to offer his vegetables, God rejected them for a reason. Most likely, it was because God wanted a blood sacrifice.  We can read that story in Genesis 4 and I will discuss how I believe Cain became the first atheist after God rejected his offering.  God is holy and He has every reason not to accept an offering that He did not want because it goes against His holy nature.

In Genesis 4:16 we read that Cain went out of the LORD's presence and lived in Nod where in the succeeding verses, he went to create his own city.  The whole idea that Cain lived in Nod, away from the presence of God is just like the atheist.  Most of the time, most atheists do not start out as atheists.  I read of how some atheists actually started out as religious people like a Roman Catholic or they attended a Christian assembly while they were never truly converted.  They are faced with the issues of God's holiness and they don't want to face it.  I believe God demanded a blood sacrifice, Cain refused it and later, we see he rather than repent, chose to live a life of rebellion.

Atheism has always been about rebellion against God and that's what the Cainites were doing.  Psalm 14:1 calls the atheist a fool because they know God is real but they hate him.  Romans 1:21-22 says that the atheist knows God really exists but they weren't thankful for Him, but rather hated Him.  They profess to be wise but they became fools.  They know God exists but they choose to be away from Him which I can remember one atheist who said, "Well I'd rather go to Hell than spend eternity with a God who is such a killjoy and won't let me live my life the way I want it!"

What I don't find surprising is that the atheist also uses Noah's Ark as the example of God's cruelty and say, "Well how can you say God was judging sin when all people were doing was doing what they needed to survive!" but they hypocritically appeal to morality whenever they are hurt or something happens to them.  Remember Cain's descendants were wicked and ungodly, God gave them really a LOT OF TIME to repent that it had to go from Seth down to Noah, and Noah worked on the ark for 120 years.  God gave them enough space to repent and remember, God will set His limits whenever He wants to.
