Charles Haddon Spurgeon's Quote on the Papacy

Although I reject the Reformed Theology's view of the Antichrist to be a dynasty rather than a singular person (I adhere to what would be called a futurist view which is erroneously attributed to the Jesuits), there is a point that Spurgeon has to say about the Pope, there's something worth talking about in here.  Whether or not a true Christian is a Calvinist or non-Calvinist (that does not make the person an Arminian), some of the best preachers have declared that the Pope is an antichrist and others declare that the final Pope is the Antichrist.  However, some modern theologians believe that the Pope will be the False Prophet instead.

St. Peter and the successor of Caiaphas compared!
The Pope claims to be the successor of St. Peter but he is indeed the successor of Caiaphas in the spiritual sense.  Peter did not allow any man to bow down to him and just said, "Stand up, I myself also am a man." but what about the Pope?  Matthew 23:7 says that the Pharisees love to be greeted in the marketplaces, they love the praises of men and does that not fit the Pope?  Some theologians may have viewed Caiaphas as an antichrist because he was sitting in the Jewish Temple, voicing out as if he was the voice of God and his word was the law of the Jewish people.

How does Caiaphas and Pilate relate to today's current events?  In a figurative sense, the Pope is Caiaphas and the governments are the Pilates of the world.  Whenever the Vatican wants something done, the Pope always cooks up some sinister scheme to get the Pilates of the world to curb to his whims one way or another.  Just as Caiaphas led the people to convince Pilate to execute Jesus, the Popes have led people to convince kings to get people executed and today to grant pardon for religious Roman Catholics caught guilty of heavy crimes.

In the past, the Dominicans and the Franciscans were a group of infiltrators and later, the Jesuits were part of the Counter-Reformation.  If anything else, listening to the Pope or any person who claims to have any absolute authority (such as Eduardo Manalo, Mormon Mission president and the like) over the Church the Body of Christ is indeed a very annoying task because it's unbiblical garbage mixed with half-truths which are even more confusing than a blatant lie.
