Drunk Driving is Dangerous to Society


Consider this picture of a drunk driving incident. This is the car that the late Princess Diana Spencer, the late Dodi Al Fayed, and the late Henri Paul (the driver) were using before their tragic demise. What was also interesting to note is that their driver had high dosages of alcohol prior to this gruesome incident. I don't want to talk about the conspiracy side of things but the whole ugly picture that drunk driving kills. But even after this incident and many similar ones before it is that many people still do it even if the consequences are clear as day.

The Bible warns that being a drunkard is one of the marks of an unsaved person:
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 

Those who argue that the prohibition of sinful substances or sinful acts "doesn't work" want to sin all the more. Pseudo-intellectuals are now popping up with ridiculous claims usually garnished with fair speeches. One of the biggest claims that may have been done to "solve" the alcoholism problem is that the government should legalize it. It would be good to throw some huge rocks instead of stones at the argument. That's because ever since the governments have legalized heavy liquor we've had more crimes and accidents because more people are getting drunk. Getting drunk raises people's tendencies to be violent and not to think clearly. If your mind isn't in the right state then how can you drive properly?


Here's a commercial on drunk driving. I think this problem today could be avoided only if people would avoid intoxicating drink (Proverbs 25:1) and were banned for good. The Lord Jesus did make some wine during the wedding feast in Cana (John 2:1-11). However, it was not an intoxicating drink. Wine can either be classified as non-alcoholic (the fruit of the fine) or alcoholic. The Hebrew word used for wine is either yayin (heavy liquor) or tirosh (the fruit of the vine). The problem with intoxicating drinks served in bars is that they contain too much alcohol than the body could take. It's just like how narcotics contain too much of pain-relieving elements plus stuff that the body shouldn't consume is added into it. Anything in excess is bad for you. That's why junk food is called junk food because they contain too much salt than the required daily dietary allowance. Anything is excess is bad for you and strong liquor is a product of excess.

Raising the fines for drunk driving isn't enough. It's more than time to re-criminalize the salon and shut them down. God's curse has never been lifted from the salon which has led people to crime. If salons were shut down then the prices of liquor are bound to go up. If the prices of liquor will have astronomical increases the the buying will be restricted. Think of how many fewer bottles of liquor there will be and how much fewer there will be incidents related to drunk driving as well as other consequences. But so infuriating to say some people still think legalizing sin is the only way to control it.
