Knowing Christ Only Through the Scriptures, Not Outside the Scriptures

The Lord Jesus warns in Matthew 24:24 and Mark 13:32 that there shall come false "Christs" who will come to deceive even the very Elect.  If there are false "Christs" in the form of person - be careful because there are also false "Christs" in the form of religion.  2 Corinthians 11:4 also warns, "For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."  The worse things that may happen is that those preaching "another Jesus" can be subtle like they can deny His deity or affirm it.  Some affirm His deity but they can attack His deity in part.

Reading through the New Testament's four accounts of the Gospel (Matthew, Mark Luke and John) - Jesus made proper references to the Old Testament Scripture about His deity.  In the Book of Acts, the Old Testament prophecies are again mentioned to show that Jesus Himself is indeed the Messiah for both Jew and Gentile alike.  By quoting from the Psalms and the prophetic books - it affirmed that Jesus indeed is that Lord and Savior of the world.  Reading from Peter's sermon in Acts 2 to the rest of Acts, the Deity of Christ is affirmed from Scriptures and not outside of Scriptures.

Operating a Christian cult using basic arithmetic operations is as follows.  First, you add to the Word of God.  Second, you subtract from the Deity and Sovereignty of Christ either in whole or in part.  Third, you multiply works as a means to either gain or maintain salvation.  Fourth, you divide loyalties by having people trust the leaders more than the Word of God.  Many teachings like rituualism, saying Jesus cannot say no to His earthly mother, saying Jesus was just a man but never God in the flesh, saying people must do good works to maintain their salvation and making people trust in their cult leader to interpret everything in the Bible are a few characteristics I have observed on these many "Christian" cults.

Whenever I read an unscriptural teaching of Christ, I reject it because it goes against the Scripture.  If the Jesus that is preached does not fit in to the Bible, that is another Jesus that must be rejected.  I have no reason to accept a Jesus who cannot say no to His earthly mother, a Jesus that never grew up to be a man, a Jesus that is a piece of bread, a Jesus that is not God as man, etc. because they are not in the Scripture.  To trust in another Jesus means damnation.  To trust in the Jesus of the Scriptures means salvation.
