It's the Christmas season where it seems Christians are still arguing non-stop about whether or not they should celebrate it if they're allowed to celebrate it, or if is Christmas pagan. Unfortunately, some of the Puritans (such as Arthur W. Pink) have gone too far with the whole Christmas debate. Charles H. Spurgeon himself had a love and hate relationship with Christmas. What I'd say is that while Christians may be spending too much time debating about Christmas - they fail to see evangelism opportunities like there is during Halloween. I do agree Christians are not to decorate their homes like the heathen on Halloween - I don't think anything is wrong with Christmas decorations. Without the Reformation - we wouldn't get the King James Version (KJV) which followed centuries later. The KJV was based on several other English Bibles such as the Matthew Bible, the Tyndale Bible, and the Geneva Bible. The Reformation reached its 500th year last 2017 and it's reached its 503rd year this 2020. 2020 is also a bad year because of the COVID-19 crisis. There were the Waldenses, Mennonites, and Baptists among groups who were martyred before the rise of Martin Luther. October is always associated with the Reformation month aside from the Rosary month. It's very easy to associate it with Martin Luther's well-known protest on October 31, 1517, that eventually led to the Diet of Worms in 1521. Luther's legacy was known to have been an Augustinian monk who found the truth. The protest itself got some Christians involved to be labeled as Protestants . It's no secret that the Coronavirus or COVID-19 is really a terrible thing. There are talks about that COVID-19 may start a whole new world order. There are talks about COVID-19 is a dangerous bioweapon. There are even people who say that the COVID-19 will ultimately lead to the mark of the Beast and a New World Order. There are also anti-vaccine people such as those in the nutjob sites Reformation Online, Now the End Begins, and Jesus-is-Savior. You also have Infowars with Alex Jones and Conspiracy World with Texe Marrs. the list can go and there's so much of it that I might as well avoid piling them up. Is the Coronavirus outbreak within the sovereignty of God? Right now, it's no joke that the Coronavirus outbreak is now pandemic or a disease that spreads across a large region. I was wondering, "Why does God allow so much suffering?" When something happens to be agreeable then it's easy to say "God is good!" However, the problem arises when something bad happens and it's difficult to believe that it's God's will. There's the question of are you moving forward or backward? Are you looking forward to the second coming of Christ? Just think about it that the signs of the times are showing. The biggest sign of the times isn't Middle Eastern conflict, isn't the One World Religion coming - it's all about the spreading of the Gospel! The Great Commission is to be fulfilled. Philippians 3:13-15 has beloved Paul's exhortation of running the race and forgetting what's behind. It's very easy to let past successes, good works, wrongdoings, and failures hold anybody back. It's very easy to cling to the past - not especially if it's to some huge achievements or if it's a failure that was just too big. Some events are too good and we wish they never ended. Some events are so bad it's so easy to dwell on them. The message of the Bible is to learn from your mistakes and move on. Stop thinking about your past glory days nor your past failure days. While we do have to study history but we don't study it to be stuck in it. We study history to learn from it on how to make a better present. The Bible gives us plenty of historical facts to study while it encourages us to move forward at the same time. I remembered back then when I was asked, "Which is better between an honest Buddhist and a rapist Christian?" My reply was, "Neither. One's going to Hell and so is the other! A few days ago, a male homosexual who identifies himself as a woman named "Miss" Gretchen Custidio Diaz (actually Gregory) dares to say, "God is love. Love does not hate, love accepts." I'm amazed at how he (and I will continue to use him as he because of his biological gender) thinks that God is love and that God can't hate. God can't hate? Love cannot hate? I remembered reading the book "Hard to Believe" by John F. MacArthur where it presents the hard truths about the Gospel. Why is the Gospel unpopular? Just reading Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 reveal hard truths that can't be easily swallowed. The idea that the sinless Son of God our Lord Jesus Christ would die for man's sins by crucifixion is repugnant for both Jews and Gentiles. The very word "cross" from what I heard was even a taboo word. People who were crucified were considered to be the lowest of the low. The idea that an innocent man how much more the sinless Son of God would allow Himself to be crucified was a baffling idea. The very idea that He died because mankind isn't basically good is even worse. The very message of Christ on the cross and conquering it because you're a lost sinner is abhorrent.
