John Calvin's Quote Against Abortion
This quote by John Calvin had considered the sacredness of human life in the unborn fetus. In Jeremiah 1:5 says, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations." God already told Jeremiah the wonderful truth that even before a person is born, God already knew them.
John Calvin also commented on Exodus 21:22 which also warned that God values the life of the unborn. Such a crime was so serious that it really called life for life saying:
John Calvin also commented on Exodus 21:22 which also warned that God values the life of the unborn. Such a crime was so serious that it really called life for life saying:
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
{q} mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
(q) Or, death: of the mother or child in the event she miscarries. Also the death on the unborn infant.
It's obvious that a miscarried fetus is a murdered human being. What is ironic is that today we live with all the technologies to prove the Bible right that the unborn fetus is a living human, many still continue in their folly thinking it's okay to commit abortion.
