People's Behavior During the Christmas Season Proves Humanity Is Not Basically Good

What I love about Answers in Genesis' artwork is how they have that humor addressing how fallen we are. One of the reasons why I really get so angry during Christmas is because of all the inconsiderate people causing traffic. If you plan to celebrate Christmas, doing your shopping before the sale may be smarter than going to a last minute Christmas sale. It may cost more money but it can spare the person from psychological or physical injuries. I couldn't help but remember the time I really lost my cool because of how people fight during a Christmas sale over the last item. When I am done, I really hate the road because people are so reckless during Christmas. All these are proofs of the total depravity of man.

Although Jesus was not born on December 25 and it was the birthday of a pagan god in some cultures but it doesn't mean Christmas celebration is wrong. What I want to address during the Christmas season is that the real message of Christ's birth is not about Christmas sales but on one simple truth, "Man is not basically good." It's stupid to celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ at the same time thinking that, "Man is basically good." The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." If humanity was basically good then it would mean nothing for Jesus Christ to become man then die for the sins of mankind as a once and for all offering.

Matthew 1:21 has the angel Gabriel saying, "And she shall bring forth a Son and thou shalt call His name JESUS; for He shall save His people from their sins." If man were basically good then there is even no reason for God the Son to become man. In Luke 1:46-47 we have Mary saying, "My soul doth magnify the LORD, and my spirit hath rejoiced in in God my Savior." In Luke 2:23-24 we have Mary doing a sin sacrifice as commanded by Leviticus 12:2-4. Mary knew she was a sinner in need of a Savior. If man were basically good, Jesus would not need to be born so He could live a perfect life and become the sin sacrifice of the world. Sinful humanity made a mess that they could not clean up and God the Father in His mercy provided God the Son to become that sin sacrifice.

The irony is that the worldly love the Christmas season because of what they associate Christmas with is all about their worldly viewpoint. They think with their materialistic mindset, they just think of Christmas parties, getting drunk, disturbing their neighbor's sleep with parties that play very loud music, children only think of presents and more presents or it's time for parents to have their license to lie because they think it's just okay to lie about Santa Claus. But just let a person say, "Well it's Christmas, do you even know why Jesus left His glory above to be born into the world as a human baby? It's because men are not basically good. You cannot work your way to Heaven that's why Jesus came to be born so He can die for your sins." then one cannot expect to have a Merry Christmas accepting that message because man thinks they are basically good.
