Getting Drunk is Not the Solution, It Adds More to Your Problems!

I was observing the saloon and why it prospers. One of the biggest lies Satan has offered to sinful man is an alternative solution that is anything but from God. One of the biggest shams of the father of lies as a solution towards problems is liquor. I remembered that aside from the poor reason for trying to become a real man, getting drunk has become a lie that it will help you cope up with your problems. However, that is a big sham and let me tell you why.

Liquor in itself is a dangerous substance and its form of alcohol is poisonous. Proverbs 20:1 says that wine is a mocker and strong drink produces brawlers. Now wine has its many meanings. Any wine referred to in the New Testament like the one Jesus produced at the Marriage of Cana was not intoxicating wine. Any new wine was from the cluster of grapes. The Old Testament reference to any kind of wine that was not allowed was yayin or shakar. Wine itself does get fermented over time but any wine naturally fermented did not make anybody drunk. The issue however with liquor is different as it contains 10% and above of alcohol to make one drunk, that is the mocker. Such dangerous drinks are a cause of a problem.

What I pretty much liked was this great Protestant Christian preacher Billy Sunday. Why was he a great Protestant preacher? He protested against sinfulness and no wonder he was so maligned by the wicked man such as Frank Sinatra in the song Chicago, a song so commonly played in some night clubs. One of the biggest things that Billy Sunday was a Protestant was against was the liquor parade. He was also a Protestant against disco, he called disco as dirty, the front door to modern-day adultery and one of the many reasons why he condemned disco was because of its association with liquor. To be honest, I cannot imagine anybody who goes to the disco house and does not get a drink of liquor. Billy Sunday himself had preached so much like when he said 82% of criminals of his day were drunkards and 75% of paupers of his day were drunkards.

The name Billy Sunday will always be famous (or infamous to sinners) to his sermon about Booze.  On fire for God, he also said these words from his sermon against Booze:
The saloon is the sum of all villanies. It is worse than war or pestilence. It is the crime of crimes. It is the parent of crimes and the mother of sins. It is the appalling source of misery and crime in the land. And to license such an incarnate fiend of hell is the dirtiest, low-down, damnable business on top of this old earth. There is nothing to be compared to it.
The legislature of Illinois appropriated $6,000,000 in 1908 to take care of the insane people in the state, and the whisky business produces seventy-five per cent of the insane. That is what you go down in your pockets for to help support. Do away with the saloons and you will close these institutions. The saloons make them necessary, and they make the poverty and fill the jails and the penitentiaries. Who has to pay the bills? The landlord who doesn't get the rent because the money goes for whisky; the butcher and the grocer and the charitable person who takes pity on the children of drunkards, and the taxpayer who supports the insane asylums and other institutions, " at the whisky business keeps full of human wrecks.
Do away with the cursed business and you will not have to put up to support them. Who gets the money? The saloonkeepers and the brewers, and the distillers, while the whisky fills the land with misery, and poverty, and wretchedness, and disease, and death, and damnation, and it is being authorized by the will of the sovereign people.
You say that "people will drink anyway." Not by my vote. You say, "Men will murder their wives anyway." Not by my vote. "They will steal anyway." Not by my vote. You are the sovereign people, and what are you going to do about it?
Let me assemble before your minds the bodies of the drunken dead, who crawl away "into the jaws of death, into the mouth of hell," and then out of the valley of the shadow of the drink let me call the appertaining motherhood, and wifehood, and childhood, and let their tears rain down upon their purple faces. Do you think that would stop the curse of the liquor traffic? No! No!
In these days when the question of saloon or no saloon is at the fore in almost every community, one hears a good deal about what is called "personal liberty." These are fine, large, mouth-filling words, and they certainly do sound first rate; but when you get right down and analyze them in the light of common old horse-sense, you will discover that in their application to the present controversy they mean just about this: " Personal liberty" is for the man who, if he has the inclination and the price, can stand up at a bar and fill his hide so full of red liquor that he is transformed for the time being into an irresponsible, dangerous, evil-smelling brute. But "personal liberty" is not for his patient, long-suffering wife, who has to endure with what fortitude she may his blows and curses; nor is it for his children, who, if they escape his insane rage, are yet robbed of every known joy and privilege of childhood, and too often grow up neglected, uncared for and vicious as the result of their surroundings and the example before them. "Personal liberty" is not for the sober, industrious citizen who from the proceeds of honest toil and orderly living, has to pay, willingly or not, the tax bills which pile up as a direct result of drunkenness, disorder and poverty, the items of which are written in the records of every police court and poorhouse in the land; nor is'' personal liberty " for the good woman who goes abroad in the town only at the risk of being shot down by some drink-crazed creature. This rant about "personal liberty" as an argument has no leg to stand upon

So why am I on a huge war against liquor? As said, I can never say that I truly have eternal security unless such salvation cannot be lost, will not make me endure to the end. When you are saved, expect life-changing transformation and power against sin. It's no wonder why a lot of drunkards refuse to get saved... it because they love liquor. Liquor is a deadly substitute by Satan for the Holy Spirit. The Bible warns in Ephesians 5:18 not to be high on liquor but to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit leads to righteous living, drunkenness will always lead to sinful living. By God's grace, I am led against liquor because it's no different from every other sin. You cannot say you are a Christian and you are always getting drunk. Remember 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 describes one of the states of being unsaved is being what...? A habitual drunkard. When a person gets saved, do expect them to throw away alcohol. They may still suffer from other sins like temper problems and lust but don't expect them to do much bigger sins than that because salvation makes one sin all the less.

How does getting drunk add to the problems to the individual? I have observed some common problems as to why people get drunk is to "drink away their problems". But the problem of drinking away one's problems is absolute idiocy. People choose to remain in comforting lies than the truth that must be told. When the truth is not told, the problem is never solved. To get drunk means to leave yourself in a state of vulnerability. I have known some cases how a man one day brought a lot of money, got drunk, the next day he was robbed and left alone. I have observed how a drunk man only drinks more which leads to headaches. Alcohol stimulates the brain but liquor overstimulates it leading to headaches, which leads to nausea. Worse, liquor drinking can increase the risk of liver cancer than to those who don't. Now don't get me wrong, medically speaking, not everyone who gets liver cancer is a drunkard. Some of the best Christian workers who led healthy lives were unfortunate that they died from liver cancer and they weren't drunk. But at least, they can take comfort that liver cancer was for God bringing them home. The problem is when liver cancer strikes the unsaved... it brings them closer to Hell every moment.

Getting drunk also adds problems to society. In what way may you ask? When a society rejects Christ, it easily turns to anything but Christ to solve the problem. When God was disregarded in American public schools, I have seen how often getting drunk increased. It's a shame that atheists blame Christians and God for the problems of their country when they themselves have brought it unto their country. When alcoholism increases, drug addiction increases. I have observed that while alcohol is indeed a pain reliever but liquor contains too much of it. Too much pain reliever can lead to more pain. I even have observed how many times liquor is linked to crime, laziness, sleaze, prostitution, disco, drug addiction, and gambling. You cannot go to a popular casino or disco that does not serve liquor. Liquor stimulates sin and continues to do so. Try looking at the raids... you can even spot some criminals getting drunk after they rob money. Robberies even increase so these criminals can also not only fund their weapons and expensive living but also their drunkard habits. The more liquor increase happens, the more crime is set to increase.
