I once ran into a self-proclaimed Roman Catholic apologist (and he was a shady character) who not only used John 2:1-13 to defend the heresy of Mary worship but also to justify his getting drunk. He misquoted the whole passage to justify his drunkenness. So much for teaching works salvation, isn't it? First, he accuses the born again Christians as teaching a license to sin then he misquotes the Scripture to justify his sin. It would be good to understand his serious misapplication of the Scripture. Some Christians tend to argue about oinos which is a wine derived from grapes. Consider this picture of a drunk driving incident. This is the car that the late Princess Diana Spencer, the late Dodi Al Fayed, and the late Henri Paul (the driver) were using before their tragic demise. What was also interesting to note is that their driver had high dosages of alcohol prior to this gruesome incident. Proverbs 20:1 says, "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." Sin is sin and it always be sin. Although the effects aren't always immediate but one doesn't realize that they may be committing suicide. The drunkard may not always suffer the effects of alcoholism immediately. But one thing is certain alcoholism is not good for your body. While alcohol kills germs outwardly but it also acts as poison to the human body. Chemistry shows alcohol is an effective dissolving agent. I have discovered how alcoholism is really bad for the health. It dissolves your good cells creating bad cells, it dissolves your teeth and bones and in short it is a dissolving agent. That is just the surface with how alcoholism dissolves the teeth, bones and good cells. I was observing the saloon and why it prospers. One of the biggest lies Satan has offered to sinful man is an alternative solution that is anything but from God. One of the biggest shams of the father of lies as a solution towards problems is liquor. I remembered that aside from the poor reason for trying to become a real man, getting drunk has become a lie that it will help you cope up with your problems. Folks I was thinking it's really stupid how I knew some people who claim to be born again Christians but guess, what evidence said otherwise.  And today, I am seeing how some people claim to be Christians but are enslaved by getting drunk, the killer!  They say they are saved and that nothing is wrong is getting drunk. One of my favorite Protestant preachers, Billy Sunday was an agent against alcohol. It has practically disturbed me to realize how one "Baptist" church I knew aside from its non-biblical stand for elder led governance has also done what is also incredibly absurd to the bone- that is mixing booze with the ministry. I really was newly saved and when I thought they were Christians, I really got really convicted by the Holy Spirit that nobody who is truly saved can think of that kind of activity is ever okay. Reading 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 we realize that the drunken behavior is one of the best evidences that nobody is saved especially if it's habitual. It really should be very disturbing to how liquor companies have been trying to appeal to the masculinity of men to drink their products. Just take a look at this commercial and see how sinful it is. This is just a sample of them and I had to choose the "tamest" one as an example. And why is liquor is prevalent? Simple the natural man is prone to getting drunk.
