Better Ten True Converts Than Ten Thousand False Converts

It is a problem when pastors decide to weight their success on the number of people they have attending rather than on people who are really sold out for Christ.  People say preachers who are not having much people in their flock are failures.  Yes, they are failures in a worldly context but if the church is suffering for the sake of Christ, it has succeeded in its mission.

What is the use of running a huge congregation if all these people are just playing church?  You may only have ten people who want to be saved from their sins while ten thousand people who just want to be saved from the consequences of their sins.  You may have ten thousand who prefer the heresy of "Easy Christianity" and only ten people who want to have authentic Christianity.  You may have ten thousand who prefer to have an entertainment driven church and only ten people who want to be in a true assembly of born again Christians.

Remember what is said in Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." There are more people going to Hell than to Heaven so why think numbers make right?
