The Reality of Generational Curses

The Bible is clear that there is such a thing as a generational curse, it is no joke.  I just thought of it how it can be painful to have this kind of a lineage of wickedness.  I was thinking of the fact that God said in Exodus 20:5 concerning the second commandment which forbade the making of graven images that He will certainly visit the iniquities of idolatry which will pass from one generation to another from the first to the fourth generation.  In Exodus 34:7, we can read again that God confirms His generational curse warning.  Unfair?  I think not.  I just thought of the statement that children learn to be messy if their parents are messy.  How does that work?  Just think of this situation: the first generation of the family is a swindling businessman, a dabber of the occult and a staunch idolater.  Then it comes to the second generation of the family of womanizers, schemers and the like which goes from the third until the fourth generation.  But because of a repeated sin pattern, it can go from the fifth and so on.

So here's why I think God created a generational curse on purpose.  God knows how much dear our children and our grandchildren can be to us.  In a typical scenario, we do think of how we want the best for our children but instead, many parents treat their children like trash.  One also has to see this- a generational curse can serve as a warning against the current generation to NEVER repeat the sins of the previous generation.  Sadly so many people ignore the generational curses that could hit their descendants.  Sad to say, it can even result that because of an old man's womanizing ways, he ends up having a blue baby of a grandchild who would require to carry an oxygen tank everywhere!  Talk about the sheer cruelty of that!  Of course, the child has no fault... it might be even God's way of bringing the child closer to Jesus than the sinful family line.  Another is that a grandfather and a grandson may both die of the same type of disease that has consumed them- like if the grandfather died from lung cancer, the grandson can die of lung cancer too.  Pretty cruel reality to embrace isn't it?  God wants people to think twice before sinning because sin will harm not only this generation but even until the NEXT generation and the NEXT and the NEXT.  Is it any wonder why many countries no matter how rich or how poor they are are so cursed?  Talk about how America now is crumbling thanks to generations of wicked Americans that deviated from the principles that they once were taught about.  When America followed the Bible faithfully, it was a country of promise but now, I really weep tears to see how America is.  The same can go for every nation as well.

Man in himself is helpless against the effects of any generational curse, no question about that.  After all, we are ALL victims of generational curses.  When Adam refused to stop his wife and ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and eventually eat it, we all got hit by one real generational curse we all share- SIN!  Romans 5:12 says that it was by one man (Adam) that sinned entered into this world, breaking everything apart.  Even Abel and Seth who were both righteous by God's standards were not exempt from the curse that was committed by Adam.  Difference was, from the line of Seth it was a godly line that claimed the promises of God, from Seth came Noah and from that line came all of us.  Sadly although we all came from Adam to Seth to Noah and none of Cain, many still choose to follow the path of Cain, ignore the warnings of our ancestor Methuselah and join the scoffers that scoffed our ancestor Noah, or worse follow the path of Nimrod.  To which in this case, however, God has not forgotten His promise in Genesis 3:15 that the Seed of a woman will crush the serpent (Satan).  That is where the answer against the generational curse lies... the Lord Jesus Christ.  In fact, by dying on the cross for the sins of mankind, He has broken the curse of sin which includes the generational curses that hit from Adam down to today.  If you want to know how to be saved, click on the tab that says "Jesus Christ Saves".
