The Idea that Nothing Goes Wrong on the Christmas Season is Stupid!

Well it's Christmas Eve and no doubt about that, however I remembered the idea that I used to have as a child of Christmas as a magical holiday, nothing can go wrong, miracles happen. etc. but that is all so wrong very wrong.  In fact, the notion in itself is wrong, very wrong and has caused several despairs, people hating Christmas, people going crazy even to the point of suicide is because of their wrong notion about Christmas. In fact, here's what I have discovered about Christmas going wrong based on personal experiences.  In fact FORGET about that stupid film called "It's A Wonderful Life".  Be realistic about life! I can always say, "Bah, humbug!" to the notion that nothing goes wrong on Christmas!

Traffic and loads of traffic filled with inconsiderate people.  When Christmas season is here, traffic rush happens and it's very bumper to bumper to the point it gets annoying.  The reason has to be because of the Christmas shopping and people instead of being considerate, become really inconsiderate because they want to get the "hottest item" or the "hottest toy" for their kids.  Other contributors to these are Christmas parties. Car accidents are more frequent during Christmas than any time of the year!  In fact, I really hate going to the mall during this season because crowds and crowds of unruly people tend to hit.  Just made me think even one time, I saw two kids beat each other up over a toy at the toys department and the parents argued on who saw the toy first.  You can also blame the parents who frequently spoil their children much to their ruin for these traffic jams too!

I also discover some people view Christmas as the time to use and abuse people.  Sometimes the employee can be the abusive one, not the boss or the student is the abusive one, not the teacher.  For example, the teacher during Christmas may have to deal with high tardiness and high absenteeism in his/her class and should expect to pull his/her hair out when students start pleading for their grades just because it's Christmas. You could also expect that people will tend to do something wrong like borrowing money and not paying for it.  Believe me, I've been duped out of lots of money on a Christmas season causing me to go through a dramatic change.  It also happened at one point a former friend of ours even tried to "get back" with us so she can use and abuse us, just because it's Christmas.

People getting drunk and brawls happen, even somebody dies before Christmas or during Christmas as people are getting crazier in this sinful world.  Christmas is the time when people get what we would call the 13th month pay.  I have nothing against Christmas bonuses.  However many people especially in countries that have been colonized by the Spaniards tend to spend a lot of money and waste it a lot.  A lot of workers tend to spend all their hard-earned money on liquor and since Christmas bonus means double payment, it is also double the time to get drunk.  I mean, some forms of liquor are hardly expensive and having double payment means more liquor to get drunk on.  No wonder alcoholic drink is a mocker!

More crimes happen especially robberies because there is more money for people than any time of the year. During Christmas, it is pretty much the time the time when money comes in more from business transactions and salaries.  In fact, I had to deposit most of my cash received immediately to prevent a robbery.  When people receive their 13th month pay, isn't that also a signal for robbers that it's double the loot when they rob a person who just got his or her Christmas bonus?  They get to rob more money from people during the Christmas season than during the regular seasons.  After getting my bonus and some earnings, I really discovered that the best thing to do with Christmas money is to deposit it and only take some cash that you really need.  In fact, I deposit most of my cash during Christmas budgeting it and not spending on what I really don't need.

Electricity related disasters are a reality that one must never ignore and they tend to happen a lot more during Christmas than any time of the year.  Reading the newspapers on the incidents of fire, I am not a bit surprised considering there are a lot of cheaply made Christmas lights.  In fact, a fire can also happen during Christmas Eve as much as a robbery can happen on that same night! Christmas lights tend to consume a lot of electricity which can cause the power companies to shut down otherwise it could lead to a disaster.  I am not surprised at why Christmas Eve tends to gets a brownout because people are overusing the electricity on Christmas lights.

Fights during Christmas mornings can happen and I've been there too.  I remembered the time when as a child, I used to bring those toys with me to a friend's house and we would play.  However some envy complex happens when one child brags about the other.  Also some children are very mean especially when it comes to the Santa Claus issue.  I remembered as a child, I was irritated with how some kids who knew the truth about Santa Claus told me there was none to the point I would even hit them.  Some kids when quarreled even would say something like, "Next Christmas, Santa Claus isn't giving you anything!" without realizing that their parents duped them all along!  Other fights that could happen is when the child discovers the sad truth that Santa Claus doesn't exist and the "Merry Christmas" morning is ruined because of that little "white lie" that broke the trust between parent and child.  Others even seek to ruin Christmas for others and I'm not surprised about that either!

Well other disasters can't be prevented with or without Christmas.  A kitchen disaster, your dog quarreling the postman, negligent parents, food poisoning, a broken appliance, an injury from falling down, a death of a loved one, a pet's death, brownout, blackout, earthquake, tsunami, etc. can come even during Christmas.  Is anything ruining your Christmas?  Then remember Jesus didn't depart from His glory in Heaven to make a magical holiday where nothing goes wrong, He came to be born so He can die for the sins of mankind.
