Hollywood "Christian" Films are TURNED Aside After Fables

2 Timothy 4:3-4 warns about false doctrines and that people will be turned unto fables. It was very heartbreaking to find out how many people rather than read their Bibles as Holy Week ends, were instead watching religious movies like "The Passion of the Christ". When I was newly saved I still had a passion to watch them until I began to read my Bible more and more. I found out that it was really not respecting the Bible. If Hollywood cannot respect even plain historical facts like in the anti-Christian film "Inherit the Wind" which is inherently wind, they can't respect the Bible the most historically accurate book of all! Besides I would dare say it is turned aside after fables. Hollywood is always notorious for blasphemy and sexual immorality that it exposes itself more of then times than not!

Here's a few examples of what you'll find. I don't need to keep exposing the "Son of God" film or the latest "Noah" film starring Russell Crowe (thanks to Ray Comfort for countering it), here's a few I can remember and two, these films will expose themselves but I'll provide some examples:

1.) Cecile De Mille's "Bible films" can't be trusted at all. Here's some I can name where he treats the Bible like as if it were fiction:
  • Since when did Salome become a Christian convert and had a relationship with a Roman soldier?
  • Moses in "The Ten Commandments" is subjected to many events neither the Bible nor history can prove like Moses having a relationship with Nefretiri or his rivalry with Rameses the Great neither was Moses ever considered for the throne too, Moses' foster mother never left Egypt, Dathan starting the rebellion of the golden calf and being a spy for Egypt, etc. are NOT in the Bible and many events are written out of accuracy to both history and Scripture!
  • Samson and Delilah had Delilah turn into a convert when Scripture is silent after she betrayed Samson. No historical proves that either.
  • His version of Ruth tries to add a lot of details not in Scripture and contradicts it. I mean no historical record ever showed Ruth to be a priestess in Moab nor were there false witnesses set against her later. It was all rewritten just to make it more "romantic".

2.) Dreamworks isn't going anything right either. You can see these examples:
  • Prince of Egypt has portrayed a lot of characters wrong. For example, it was Pharaoh's daughter not his wife who found Moses while the film says otherwise. You might also want to think that when Moses killed the Egyptian, it was no accident in Scripture. Also Moses was 80 years old when he returned to Egypt (that was also omitted in Cecile De Mille's version). You could also think of why Aaron became rebellious? Who do the writers think they are in changing the story?
  • Joseph King of Dreams presents Joseph as a haughty, high-minded spoiled brat but the Scriptures speak he was an obedient son and no haughty person. Jacob though he loved Joseph more, didn't spoil him and even rebuked him for saying his dreams even if he made the mistake in showing how much he loved Joseph to the others.

3.) Jesus films - I won't keep naming a lot but here's some I can name:
  • The Jesus film by Jeremy Sisto actually has Jesus even dreaming of the future, Satan's temptation of Jesus was somewhat fantasized while still the same, one might consider that John the Baptist talked with Jesus about seeing crucified men when they were young, you could also consider that Satan also tempted Jesus again in Gethsheme presenting him of what the future may bring. All these are not in Scripture or any legitimate history book.
  • The Passion of the Christ is another. It's a huge problem for Roman Catholics that they tend to believe Catholic visions more than they believe the Bible and the film that Mel Gibson directed focused more on the visions of the late Anne Emmerich (a Catholic nun) rather than the Scripture. Some sources even say Veronica didn't even exist, that is the woman who wiped Jesus' face. You might also consider the whole film had a lot of liberties like Judas Iscariot chased by demons and others that are nothing more than fables. However I did find use for some pictures and scenes of the movie to use for making Gospel tracts for Roman Catholics or for soulwinning videos.
  • Jesus Christ Superstar is not only blasphemous titlewise but also it downplays the deity of Christ. Jesus is presented to be a hippy loser, not the Son of God that He should be presented as. If I'm to talk maybe "The Passion of the Christ" had more respect for Christ playing Him straight (despite the fables in it). Here, Jesus is nothing more than a huge loser and a clown. The same goes for Godspell which I don't plan to watch either.

Also, here's an important excerpt by Aiden W. Tozer on  "The Menace of the Religious Movie" which should be a huge eye opener:
First, the evil effect upon the "actors" who play the part of the various characters in the show; this is not the less because it is unsuspected. Who can, while in a state of fellowship with God, dare to play at being a prophet? Who has the gall to pretend to be an apostle, even in a show? Where is his reverence? Where is his fear? Where is his humility? Any one who can bring himself to act a part for any purpose, must first have grieved the Spirit and silenced His voice within the heart. Then the whole business will appear good to him. "He feedeth on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside." But he cannot escape the secret working of the ancient laws of the soul. Something high and fine and grand will die within him; and worst of all he will never suspect it. That is the curse that follows self-injury always. The Pharisees were examples of this. They were walking dead men, and they never dreamed how dead they were.
Secondly, it identifies religion with the theatrical world. I have seen recently in a Fundamentalist magazine an advertisement of a religious film which would be altogether at home on the theatrical page on any city newspaper. Illustrated with the usual sex-bate picture of a young man and young woman in tender embrace, and spangled with such words as "feature-length, drama, pathos, romance," it reeked of Hollywood and the cheap movie house. By such business we are selling out our Christian separation, and nothing but grief can come of it late or soon.
Thirdly, the taste for drama which these pictures develop in the minds of the young will not long remain satisfied with the inferior stuff the religious movie can offer. Our young people will demand the real thing; and what can we reply when they ask why they should not patronize the regular movie house?
Fourthly, the rising generation will naturally come to look upon religion as another, and inferior, form of amusement. In fact, the present generation has done this to an alarming extent already, and the gospel movie feeds the notion by fusing religion and fun in the name of orthodoxy. It takes no great insight to see that the religious movie must become increasingly more thrilling as the tastes of the spectators become more and more stimulated.
Fifthly, the religious movie is the lazy preacher's friend. If the present vogue continues to spread it will not be long before any man with enough ability to make an audible prayer, and mentality enough to focus a projector, will be able to pass for a prophet of the Most High God. The man of God can play around all week long and come up to the Lord's Day without a care. Everything has been done for him at the studio. He has only to set up the screen and lower the lights, and the rest follows painlessly.
Wherever the movie is used the prophet is displaced by the projector. The least that such displaced prophets can do is to admit that they are technicians and not preachers. Let them admit that they are not God-sent men, ordained of God for a sacred work. Let them put away their pretense.

As said, blasphemous films don't need to be exposed since they always expose themselves! Christians have the responsibility of preaching the Gospel and speaking in general against this kind of evil. Show them the whole Bible story, the false ones will fall down apart!
