Being Pro-Birth is NOT Being Pro-Life!

I am practically disturbed to how people think that it's a sin to have natural birth control as much as artificial birth control.  As much as abortion is wrong, then so is pro-birth.  If abortion is not pro-life since there is nothing pro-life about killing an unborn infant, nothing is pro-life either when one tries to have many children when one cannot afford to support them all.  Although Joan Chittister is an unsaved Roman Catholic, I would agree 100% with her when it came to her statement that if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, a child educated, a child raised properly then it's not pro-life, it's pro-birth.

What verses do pro-birth people misuse?  They misuse Genesis 1:28 when God told Adam and Eve to go forth and multiply.  They also misuse Psalm 127:3-4 to justify their stand for pro-birth stand.  They condemn couples who choose to limit their number of children which is just plain wrong.  If any couple is to be condemned I would go for those who support abortion, same sex marriage, incest and all types of sexual immorality.

Here's some words by Pastor John S. Piper on birth control:

It is very important to delight in the reality that "children are a gift of the Lord." But some people go further and argue from this that since children are gifts from God, it is wrong to take steps to regulate the timing and number of children one has.
In response, it can be pointed out that the Scriptures also say that a wife is a gift from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22), but that doesn't mean that it is wrong to stay single (1 Corinthians 7:8). Just because something is a gift from the Lord does not mean that it is wrong to be a steward of when or whether you will come into possession of it. It is wrong to reason that since A is good and a gift from the Lord, then we must pursue as much of A as possible. God has made this a world in which tradeoffs have to be made and we cannot do everything to the fullest extent. For kingdom purposes, it might be wise not to get married. And for kingdom purposes, it might be wise to regulate the size of one's family and to regulate when the new additions to the family will likely arrive. As Wayne Grudem has said, "it is okay to place less emphasis on some good activities in order to focus on other good activities."

Also the concept of pro-birth may end up supporting any heterosexual activities not in the regulations of God.  I can imagine the nightmare of pro-birth actually supporting sinful activities like incest, fornication and adultery.  Most likely, a pro-birth married man may soon sleep around with other women all because he thinks he's fulfilling God's will of "going forth to multiply" never mind God had created sex only for morally bound marriages, not marriages that violate God's standards (ex. incest, adultery, polygamy).  You may also have the unmarried bachelor having children born out of fornication out of that misinterpretation.  The consequences may soon be half-siblings engaging in incest which can give birth to a new generation of freak children.  The result will be one mess over the other.

Putting aside sexual immorality, one may think what if it was done in a lawfully bound family?  It's stupid to have the mentality saying, "I don't care about poverty or having many kids.  I don't care if my kids are going around the streets scrapping for food as long as I have lots of them!"  What they ignore is this also that 1 Timothy 5:8 requires that a father must give basic support (housing, food, education) to their children or else they are worse than an infidel.  Also, what's the use of having many children if one cannot handle them?  It would be more of a curse than a gift from God.

Children born should not be born just out of the sake of being born- they must be fed, educated, raised well and met with all basic needs.  The pro-birth view will only result to children who aren't raised properly, it may even increase crime and in turn, it will fuel the abortion clinic industry and sales of contraceptives in the future as a result of the mess pro-birth creates.  After all, who wouldn't be tempted to get an abortion after having a mountain of children who are all roaming around the streets, sniffing rugby, stealing money, etc. fearing the next child will be worse than the last?  As said, go for natural family planning while opposing planned parenthood ahem Pharaohhood.
