Athaliah: The Wicked Queen's Saga of Feminazism in Judah!

Athaliah was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel.  Now what was the big story behind her?  Athaliah as a queen was indeed a wicked woman who you cannot trust.  Let's think of the problem behind how Athaliah entered into Judah.  In 2 Chronicles 18: we read the story of the alliance of Ahab and Jehoshaphat.  Remember he sought affinity with Ahab.  A marriage between their children was meant to secure a peace treaty but that was one decision that caused disaster.

Here's what we can see... Jehoshaphat was indeed foolish to have that alliance with Ahab. Ahab was a wicked man, no other king was more wicked in Israel than he was.  It's no wonder why Ahab had easily married Ethbaal's daughter Jezebel.  It's no wonder why Jezebel had little or no problem submitting to her husband's authority... they were both wicked idolaters and she stood by him no matter what.  They had a couple of children and the most notorious was Athaliah.  Athaliah was soon arranged to marry Jehoram of Judah, son of Jehoshaphat.  The alliance itself would prove to be disastrous as how can a godly house ever agree with an ungodly house?

Athaliah's marriage to Jehoram proved disastrous.  Remember Jehoram for eight years wasn't even a good king like his father Jehoshaphat and grandfather Asa.  He murdered all his siblings probably under Athaliah's influence.  The end of Jehoram's reign was that he was buried in dishonor.  It's even possible that while Jehoram reigned, Athaliah refused to submit.  The sad story soon came that after Jehoram's death, she became the manipulative queen mother towards her son Ahaziah.  Under Athaliah's rule, Baal worship prospered and during her illegitimate rule, it prospered even more.

What really made me puke about Athaliah was this.  After her 22 year old son's one year reign, she does the most cruel thing she can do.  Remember Ahaziah the puppet king was later killed by Jehu.  Jezebel the last monarch of the House of Ahab died and was eaten by dogs.  It was amazing to think that while God struck Ahab dead, He gave Jezebel at least 20 years to repent but she refused.  Nothing was left of the wicked Jezebel but the influenced live on in Athaliah who did the most unthinkable thing.  She ordered the whole House of David exterminated except her.  That means her own grandchildren were murdered.  Jehosheba must have also been on the hit list considering she was in hiding for six years.

Looking back at Jehoshaphat, it's easy to see what was wrong.  Any relationship or alliance with an idolater is like oil and water, they do not mix at all.  There is no fellowship between light and darkness.  Athaliah was raised in the ways of Ahab and Jezebel.  Her grandfathers Ethbaal (mother side) and Omri (father side) were both wicked.  Sidon was a wicked civilization.  Athaliah may have even spent much of her childhood learning the wickedness from both her Sidonian kinsmen and those of her father's side.  The House of Ahab was infamous for idolatry.  Jezebel being the mother reared a Jezebel Jr. in Athaliah, except Athaliah would even become worse than her mother.  Marrying her into the House of David from which the Messiah came would prove fatal and it led to its near extinction.  God intervened in time to make sure Joash the youngest of Ahaziah's sons was going to continue David's line.

The Bible doesn't really describe much of Athaliah's reign but it's hinted to be wicked.  The Bible refers to her as "that wicked woman".  When Joash was revealed, the people were rejoicing.  It was possible that her reign was a bloody one.  If she can kill her own family just to stay in power, it shows she had crossed the border of her parents.  So why did she kill her own grandchildren?  The answer is most likely she would not allow a man to rule over her.  She was going to stay in power and she was going to do it.  Unlike her wicked mother who had the decency not to kill the household, Athaliah crossed it many times.  I would assume she demanded infant sacrifices year after year to honor her god, Baal.  She must have been a real dictator of sorts.

It's no surprise really that the Feminazis consider Athaliah as a victim and promoter of religious tolerance.  If she was really "tolerant" why did she tear down the Temple of Solomon?  Do these Feminazis ignore the reality that Athaliah killed her own family to stay in power?  Not surprisingly, Feminazis also support the diabolical abortion industry as "choice" or view it improper to submit to their husbands.  One may just think... if a wicked woman like Jezebel would admit to her husband, why do these Feminazis think it repulsive?  It's the obvious... they defend their wrong choices no matter what.
