Those Who Criticize the Bible Are Those Who Read It Least!

Add the word "wrongly" before criticize though...

I remembered how I've seen people who actually criticize the Bible a lot for being a book of tyranny and oppression. Some foolishly unrestrained people have been calling Christian schools as places of tyranny, concentration camps and say that the Bible is a book that oppresses man, that it's a symbol of tyranny and it's a book of inconsistencies. But here's the question that I want to tell them, "How often have you read the Bible to criticize it?" I may expect an answer saying that they are too intelligent and that they don't need to read it again while they criticize it. I always feel like saying, "Look, if you read it thoroughly, you'll find out how wrong you are." The more I think about their refusal to take the Bible into context is because of their intellectual pride, not their intelligence. What they do not realize is that they are willfully foolish and ignorant while declaring themselves to be wise in their own eyes.

Reading through their arguments which are hard to digest due to all the profane language and swearing in them (the Bible says in Romans 3:14 and Psalm 10:17 that such mouths are filled with cursing and bitterness), I can see how they quote the Scripture. The Scriptures they quote are very much taken straight out of context. Even when they insist that they are not taking Scriptures out of context, they are by their own actions, taking them out of context. It's been one of the most effective weapons the children of Satan have aside from the use of character assassination and half-truths. Matthew Slick of Christian Apologetics Research Ministry reveals this truth about atheists saying, "Additionally, after reading much atheist material and debating with them over the internet, I've discovered they often use mockery of God, religious leaders, and the Bible as weapons to further their agenda. This isn't the case with all atheists as I have had very good conversations with some of them, but ridiculing attitudes are surprisingly prevalent and strong. Character assassination, half-truths, and out-of-context Bible quotes are typical tools used by many of them in attempts to make Christianity look bad." taken from "Concerning atheist attacks against Theism".

Let us take a look at the fact these unfair critics of the Bible call God a murderous monster. They usually cite the verses that talks about God's command to kill a certain civilization, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and just about every instance God commands warfare without understanding the context. Some of them even say something as foolish as that sin is just a fantasy word and people were doing all they can to survive then God becomes a killjoy. This also raises the question that if they believe in the famous Dawkins quote that there is no good, no evil but only pitiless indifference and that if sin is just a fantasy word, what is their ground to condemn a just and holy God as a cruel, murderous and unjust in the first place? If they knew how wicked the civilizations were which were involved in every form of bloody cruelty then they have to realize, God judges the wicked in due time. They are most likely to cook up another excuse to continue their hatred for God and their unbelief instead of seeing themselves as worthy for extermination.

What they may also fail to see is that God in spite of His hatred for sin and that He is angry with the wicked at a daily basis that He still has given a chance for mercy to be met. What is worse is that the atheists make fun of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for the sins of man as either just a "fairy tale" or an "unnecessary act". If they read the Bible in context, blood is required as payment for sin and it's the sinless blood of Jesus that pays for it. Hebrews 9:10-22 is clear that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness and when Jesus paid for it that all blood sacrifices got abolished as a result. God could not make man righteous without that payment for sin because He is just. Jesus offered to be that payment for sin for the helpless sinner. What they do is that they have spat on God's holiness as a result which is both the basis of His mercy and justice. Their arrogance would be their downfall. Only if they humble themselves, stop their hostile rebellion against God and submit to His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior can they escape the wrath to come.
