Today is the Roman Catholic feast day of John the Baptist. This has me disturbed at how Roman Catholics celebrate John the Baptist as one of their saints while some of them make fun of the idea of baptism by immersion. If they ever do bother to read the Greek text - the word baptize is derived from the Greek word baptizo   (βαπτίζω)  which means to immerse in water. That's something that infant baptism or baptism by sprinkling fails to accomplish. I wonder, did Roman Catholics ever bother reading these verses from the Good News Translation (GNT) which is one of their approved translations? Some Roman Catholics claim that they are the true "born again Christian" while those who call themselves born again Christians just belong to a manmade group. Their reason for being supposedly born again was because they were baptized as infants. The idea of being born again at infant baptism is absurd for these reasons. But does the Bible support any claim anybody is ever born again through infant baptism? Note that some Protestant denominations that practice infant baptism have a very different view from the Roman Catholic view of infant baptism. Let's take a look at Acts 2:38. Acts 2:38 says that you must repent and be baptized. Repent of what? Repent of your sins. This is not about getting baptism in order to be saved but because one is saved. This is what Theopedia has to say as the definition of the word sacrament: A sacrament is a rite or ceremony instituted by Jesus, and observed by the church as a means of or visible sign of grace. The English word sacrament is from the Latin sacramentum, which means to make holy, or to consecrate.  Sacraments are ceremonial in nature , which separates them from other things that Jesus instructed believers to do (e.g. "go and make disciples of all nations," Matthew 28:18). If Roman Catholics could not even get the Lord's Supper right where it ends up as Lord's breakfast (morning service), Lord's lunch (noon service) and it only becomes Lord's Supper on an evening service then I do not really expect them to get baptism right. Well here's some things I might want to tackle about.  Remember NOT every mention of baptism in the Bible is referred to water baptism, especially the baptism unto salvation.  Here's how we could refer to the truth that the baptismal covenant for salvation is different from water baptism.  So how do we differentiate them? After the grievous error of regenerative infant baptism was born, the opposite heresy of adult-only baptism also came place. The adult-only baptism rule would say that a new convert should be an adult before they even get baptized. Ine does not need to be an adult to be baptized. The Gospel can be be understood and accepted even by a minor like a child or a teenager.  To think about it, in Acts 2:41 one can read the effect of Peter's first Sunday service as the first pastor- those who BELIEVED were baptized on that day of the first Sunday service in the Book of Acts. One can assume children were also in the crowd that day. In Acts 16:31-33 the jailer was then preached the Gospel, he believed and then so did the whole household- so one can assume that even the underaged children were included to those who became converts as well, like I can assume that in Peter's first Sunday service message. Perhaps another confused word in theology is the word means.  Here's the Matthew Henry commentary that can get people confused: The sacrament of baptism, rightly received, is a means and a pledge of salvation. We have the baptismal salvation crowd that would actually write down verses to try and justify their heresy.  As said, baptism is NOT necessary for salvation .  However baptism is a requirement for the Christian life to follow in obedience and to be rewarded.  Please note that sacraments (another word for ordinance) DO NOT SAVE or imply any graces. The Roman Catholic Church has implemented the heresy of infant baptism in its faith and practice. This is another heresy that must be exposed as many people are deceived by it. We would like to write a defense of the believer's baptism and debunking the following heresies concerning baptism aside from the heresy of baptismal salvation: Infant baptism as practiced by Catholicism and its similar off-shoots like the Orthodox churches (ex.
