Persecuting of Christians Shows Man's Total Depravity

Image
It is no surprise to the growing believer to why the world hates Christians. John 15:18-19 shows that Christians do not belong to the world. Titus 2:11-14 shows that Christians are a peculiar people zealous unto good works, resisting the ungodliness of this present world. James 4:4 warns that friendship with the world is to be an enemy of God. If you are a friend of God then you are therefore the enemy of the world. If you are going to stand by God's Word then expect a whole lot of rejection as 2 Timothy 3:12 warns that those who live godly will be persecuted by the world. Remember the world already fell to Satan's authority ever since Adam fell. Romans 5:12-14 shows the very consequences of Adam's sin that it brought sin and death. 2 Corinthians 4;4 shows that Satan is indeed the god of this world. Ever since the days of Noah up to today we have people choosing anything but God. People laughed at the idea of a coming judgment until it was too late in several instances....

The Problem That Many People Are Too Preoccupied with Money to Think About God

Image
Nothing is wrong with getting engaged with businesses otherwise basic needs will not be met. If there were no businesses involved then there would be nothing to meet basic needs. You certainly need to have a PC and a printer to do office work. You certainly need a mobile phone these days to keep in touch with more ease. We certainly need businesses to buy our food and to get our water supply purified so it is safe to drink. The problem is not engaging in business or being rich but when a person's main occupation is just doing business and becoming richer. God ordained businesses but men pervert God's ordinances. It is very easy to say, "Well nobody gets rich materially by reading the Bible." I agree with that because if that were true then many men of God today would be living in mansions. False pastors who preach prosperity get so rich so easily. The Vatican today has more money than what the world's richest men have and not even all their wealth could sur...

Salvation Does Not Stop With Just Being Saved

Image
While salvation from the penalty of sin is a one time event but this salvation continues into sanctification.  The "Easy Christianity" crowd is bound to say, "I am saved now I can do what I want." or "It is possible to be saved and never change at all."  Those are heresies that deny the real grace of God.  When a person is saved then there is the grace of God that makes the unteachable to be teachable, the sinner to be saved from their sin and there is really salvation is not just from the penalty of sin (past) but presently all born again Christians are into the process of sanctification. The whole problem of "Easy Christianity" is the rejection of inevitable sanctification in their lives.  They would slander good men of the Gospel as "works salvationists" and "Pharisees" as if they do not read the Bible that when you are saved, there ought to be change.  Did they not read in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 that salvation changes th...

The World Tells You "You Must Follow Everybody Else" but the Bible Says "You Must Become Like Christ!"

People say, "Well look at everyone.  Just act like them and you are in the right."  It is that kind of thinking that really sets the Christians apart from the world.  People just want to go with the flow because they do not want to be left out with the world.  Parents tend to spend too much in making sure their children fit in with the popular crowd rather than make sure their children live right.  Many end up doing premarital sex and adultery because it has become more and more accepted.  But no matter how you put it, what is right and wrong is never determined by popularity. But the Bible has a very different message for the Christian.  Romans 12:2 says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."  It is very easy to say, "But that will not make me popular."  Like it or not, popularity is fickle and it does not c...

Do Your Material Possessions Come In Between Your Christian Life?

Image
1 John 2:15 warns, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." It is okay for Christians to have material possessions like having a personal computer, a mobile phone, a nice house, a car and these are part of life's blessings. But do you know sometimes life's blessings can become a hindrance? Certain forces in the world can be used for good or for evil. Like the Internet can be used to spread God's Gospel and spread the truth but at the same time it can also be used to spread disinformation, cause trouble and spread heresies. Your personal computer could be used to do your important work but it can also be used to entertain one's sinful nature. A TV set can be used to watch the news but it can be used to watch ungodly TV programs. Matthew Henry's advice is simple. With whatever you have do not let it come in between you and Christ. It is okay to get upset if you ...

America's Supreme Court Renders Confusion to the Public

Image
It was a sad day for America when same-sex marriage was approved.  Many blindly thought it was the victory of tolerance.  Yes, it was a victory of tolerance but tolerance of sin.  While tolerance is a good value but it can also be a bad value.  Tolerating what is good is the Christian call and they're called never to tolerate evil.  But the problem is that this is a tolerance of evil and with same sex marriage legalized then it's time to expect confusion. Legalizing same-sex marriage has defeated common sense one way or another.  If you're born a man, use the men's bathroom.  If you're born a woman, use the women's bathroom.  There is nothing moral about homosexuality.  It's not just condemned in the Old Testament but it's also condemned in the New Testament.  1 Corinthians 6:9-10 describes homosexuals are also among the list of unrighteous people and it's a lifestyle of the unsaved.  Just because Jesus didn't directly speak aga...

Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Loving One's Enemies to Counter Islamic Infiltration

There's always the paranoia that Muslim refugees may be infiltrators. I can agree in part that it may be part of the infiltration plan. It becomes a problem when people think too much about the infiltration than the initiative of preaching the Gospel to Muslim refugees. While you can't be too sure it's part of ISIS' plan for world domination but one thing is certain they are part of the mission field. It's no doubt that Muslims are indeed enemies of Christians. But what did Jesus tell His followers on how to deal with their enemies? The Bible offers this advice to how Christians should deal with infidels: Leviticus 19:18 says, " Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people , but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the L ORD ." Proverbs 25:21-22 says, " If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink : for thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and th...
