Doctrinal Flaws in Mormon Articles of Faith Prove Mormonism is NOT Christian

Basic Mormon beliefs are expressed in the "Thirteen Articles of Faith," which were listed by Joseph Smith when he was asked about the basic beliefs of the Church. With this article of faith, I would also like to make an open possibility to refuting Mormonism.

Note: Debunking in between to what is NOT Biblical. More refutes to come soon.

We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

Refute: What about the fact that in Genesis 1 the Trinity has been PRESENT since the creation? God is eternal and each Person namely the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are just as eternal as the Father- this is a SERIOUS attack on the wonderful truth that my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is God Almighty!

We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

Refute: This is plainly salvation by works. This is exactly what is WRONG with off-shoot religion. Romans 4:5 and Ephesians 2:8-9 says that salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Ephesians 2:10 shows that salvation results to works NEVER the other way around. Salvation is NEVER initially by faith and maintained by works otherwise it's still works salvation (Romans 11:6).

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth,

Refute: 1 Corinthians 1:17 says, "For Christ did NOT send me to baptize but to preach lest the cross of Christ be made of none effect." which again, says baptism DOES not save.

Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Refute: We are NO LONGER living in the time of the apostles.

We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

Refute: How can the Book of Mormon AGREE with the Bible? The Book of Mormon adds works to being saved. Alma 11:37 of the Book of Mormon says, ""And I say unto you again that he cannot save them in their sins; for I cannot deny his word, and he hath said that no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore, how can ye be saved, except ye inherit the kingdom of heaven? Therefore, ye cannot be saved in your sins." which again attacks the saving grace of God. Galatians 2:21 is clear saying, "I refuse to reject the grace of God for if salvation were by the Law, Christ is dead in vain.". Mormonism attacks the complete work of Jesus on the cross!

We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

Refute: Has it EVER occurred to them that Revelation is the FINAL chapter? Revelation 22 is in fact the concluding statement that it's the FINAL book of the Bible!

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

Refute: What the? Where in the Bible can they REALLY show me that the New Jerusalem will be in America? Does the USA in Jerusalem say anything about it? NOPE!  The Bible is silent to where the New Jerusalem will be built so it would be wrong to assume where it would be.

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

Refute: True worship of God is NOT private interpretation but rather willful obedience to the Bible's prescribed methods.

We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
