The Need For... HELLFIRE PREACHING!
One of the most severe issues today is that there's less Hellfire preaching and nobody really bothers to tell the truth. There are modernistic preachers who not only teach salvation by human effort but they have gone as far as to even poke fun at Hell or not even preach about Hell. This is happening with the world today with the tickling of the ears rather than giving in to sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3). So why should there be Hellfire preaching? Here's what- unless people understand the eternal consequences of sin, they will never see the need to get saved (Romans 3:10-19). As said, it just takes one sin to merit eternal Hell (James 2:10-11). Unless Hellfire preaching is accompanied by expository preaching against sin, preaching against sin will be ineffective because one must understand that their sins have caused them to merit Hell and only Jesus is the solution. Jesus talked more about Hell than He talked about Heaven. People must be told that unless they receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and nothing more for salvation, they're going straight for a burning Hell! Anybody who says that it's wrong to teach people about Hell is a nutcase!
People can laugh at the truth about Hell, consider it a myth, reject Jesus Christ and try to earn their salvation only to find out later it will be too late for them. The video in itself can become a reality for many people- when it's too late. Hebrews 9:27 says, "For as it is appointed unto man once to die but after this the judgment." People who continue in their self-righteousness (and they live very sinful lives despite the fact they teach works salvation) will die in the state of rejecting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and it's too late.
However, there must be an extreme that we must avoid. There are still works salvation preachers who are engaged in Hellfire preaching and are still misleading people into Hell. These quacks teach about salvation being God's justice rather than His mercy for the undeserving sinner. It presents a dictator god rather than a God who takes no pleasure in throwing people into Hell. As said, Hellfire preaching is only for those who believe that man deserves nothing more than Hell if God's justice is to be weighed against them and that Jesus is the only solution, that Hell is real and that while one is alive, they must receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior NOW (2 Corinthians 6:2).
