Lawless Gospel is Heresy!!!!
I have encountered the extremes today that people say that there is aside from teaching that a man must forsake their sins to be saved than forsaking one's sins as a result of salvation, there is the Lawless "gospel" which is an utter heresy as it preaches salvation without even exposing people to the Law of God. Seriously speaking, man by nature is NOT basically good (Romans 3:10-23). If man was basically good, why would in the first place God give the Law?
The Bible is clear with these points on the purpose of the Law in sin revealing:
- Psalm 19:7 says that the Law converts the soul of the sinner. Galatians 3:24 says that the Law is the schoolmaster that points to Christ that men may be justified by faith.
- Deuteronomy 31:26 says that the Book of the Law is a witness against sin. In Romans 3:19 with the Law the whole world is GUILTY before God. Romans 7:7-9 further explains the sinfulness of man as revealed by the Law.
- Galatians 2:21 the Law reveals its purpose to show how helpless man is and that if salvation is by the Law, Christ is dead in vain. Yet the Law points to Jesus Christ!
- 1 Timothy 1:9 says that the Law is not given for the righteous but to SINNERS.
- James 2:10-11 says that if you try to keep the whole Law yet offend at ONE POINT, you are GUILTY AS CHARGED!!!
Seriously neither Jesus or the Apostles EVER denied the essentials of presenting God's Law before man. Jesus throughout His ministry preached against sin and showed man HOW they come short of the glory of God when He said in Matthew 5:28 to be perfect as the Heavenly Father is perfect. That is, aside from giving Christians the path of perfection, He shows how much man is cut short. He also preached in Matthew 5-7 at the Sermon of the Mount the very truths of SINFULNESS and even revealed that mere lust and mere hatred is already adultery and murder. Truth is there is no mortal sin or venial sin, no, all sin is sin and that's why the Law must be presented. Jesus demanded the impossible as to show man that they are but sinners and He is the only answer.
Now here's a sample of Ray Comfort's evangelism using the Ten Commandments and see HOW it blasts sin telling this young man in the need of salvation:
Just notice how Pastor Ray Comfort reveals the reality of sin to this young man in this video. It doesn't matter how big or how small your lie is, whether you stole one peso or a billion pesos... God hates sin all the same no matter how big or how small. Dr. John Rice even emphasized many times that unless you preach against sin, don't expect salvation! That is, don't expect a true conversion!
Seriously speaking it is also HIGHLY impossible for a Christian to even think of living lawlessly. Why? The Bible speaks of the relation of the Christian and the Law as:
- Joshua 1:8 calls the Christian to meditate upon the Book of the Law for guidance and the path to good success.
- Romans 3:31 has the Apostle Paul saying the Christian life is called to ESTABLISH the Law not to demolish it by faith.
- Romans 7:22 the Apostle Paul reveals he DELIGHTS after the Law of God after the inward man. This is really like David in the Psalms asking God to teach him the Law.
- Ephesians 2:10 has Christians being prepared to do good works as the purpose to why they were saved by grace. Salvation is not by works but it RESULTS to works.
- Titus 2:11-15 teaches that God's grace teaches proper living NOT promote a license to lawlesness.
So I do have EVERY RIGHT to cast doubts against the heresy of Antinomianism at every means. As said, true Christianity, true conversion will always RESULT to a real change. The late Pastor Arthur Pink said, "Divine grace is not bestowed with the object of freeing men from their obligations but rather with that of supplying them with a powerful motive more readily and gratefully discharging those obligations. To make God's favor a ground of exemption from the performance of duty comes perilously near to turning His grace into lasciviousness."
