The Possible Connection Between Taoism, Greed and Gambling Habits
I have tried to notice among Taoists and other forms of Chinese paganism, they are actually having all this nonsense such as Feng Shui. It's no surprise either the astrologer was a Buddhist or a Taoist though most Feng Shui practitioners are using Taoist mysticism. In fact during Taoist festivals, divination is very widely practiced even non-Taoists. The whole system of Feng Shui relies on lucky charms which actually invite and attract demons one after the other. So how is it connected to gambling and greed? Simple- these cuckoo astrologers or diviners say, "Well today's your lucky day in gambling." and give some very unsound advice to the listener. Also for Taoism, the so-called "selflessness" however is nothing more than worldly merit. Want a child? Pray to the goddess of childbirth. Want wealth? Pray to the god of wealth.
I did remember a Chinese gambler who frequently went to the Taoist temples. In Taoism, there are many gods who are addressed for special purposes. One is Tu Di Gong who is the god of wealth. I remembered how often many unsaved Chinese businessmen placed this god of wealth on their stores and prayed to it for good luck. However let a disaster come to the store and the businessman must pick his image of Tu Di Gong the god of wealth because it cannot walk. Just imagine, no matter how much food they offer to this image of Tu Di Gong, the food is still there as it has eyes but cannot see, has mouth but cannot speak and it needs to be carried.
Pretty much, these gamblers may feel confident about their prayers to this god of wealth. So they may go to their local temples, light some incense and then pray to the god of wealth but this only increases the gambling addiction. Behind every idol is a devil a warned in 1 Corinthians 12:2. The Taoist gods are no different from the gods of Babylon, Egypt, Assyria, etc. they are all dead gods. So what we realize is that in the course of Taoist worship, they also rely on a lot of hogwash items like lucky beads, lucky crystals, etc. which I did figure out some of the so-called lucky items had lead or even mercury which makes it not so lucky, it just happened to be also on the year of the snake in Chinese astrology. I've also noticed that most people who are superstitious tend to be lazy at work relying on the "good luck charms" that will sooner or later rip them off. That's how fortune telling earns money- through dirty scams and no wonder why Paul in Acts 16:16-23 was later imprisoned for exorcising the fortune teller out of the demon that possessed her. It's no wonder why Feng Shui masters hate to see a fundamentlist pastor walk down the road.
Quite confident, I did remember how a person who won in gambling would later return to the Taoist temple to offer incense to the god of wealth again. However what was so funny at the same time disturbing was that the person who lost in gambling also came with the complaints. As said, gambling is a game of chance and winning or losing it has nothing to do with Taoist superstitions. Maybe Satan himself allows some Taoist gamblers to win so they continue to pray to the idol called the god of wealth, and later double cross them into terrible losses. This reminds me of somebody who cheated me out of a lot of money after operating on me like a Ponzi schemer would- give high returns once and run away later.
