If Some Non-Christian Schools Wouldn't Even Allow Playing Poker Inside Their Campuses Then How Much More Should Christian Schools Not Allow It?

Image
It's been 20 years since incident some time ago when I was a teenager when a Christian school dared to actually suspend at least 17 students (for three days) for playing poker inside the campus. Although some crazy parents tried to reason it out that there was no money involved but they got suspended anyway. Then I entered College and observed that even if a non-Christian university or other non-Christian schools (ex. Roman Catholic and non-religious schools) wouldn't allow students to play cards and gambling in their campuses then how much more would Christian schools even allow such activity? So what's really wrong with gambling paraphernalia in school? The school is a learning institution and not a recreational place so everything that causes distract is forbidden. Another, every little sin can pile up into a huge mess. It's just like if you don't clean up the bird droppings or dog poop then expect the whole place to get full of such dirt. Everything can star...

The Possible Connection Between Taoism, Greed and Gambling Habits

I have tried to notice among Taoists and other forms of Chinese paganism, they are actually having all this nonsense such as Feng Shui.  It's no surprise either the astrologer was a Buddhist or a Taoist though most Feng Shui practitioners are using Taoist mysticism.  In fact during Taoist festivals, divination is very widely practiced even non-Taoists.  The whole system of Feng Shui relies on lucky charms which actually invite and attract demons one after the other.  So how is it connected to gambling and greed?  Simple- these cuckoo astrologers or diviners say, "Well today's your lucky day in gambling." and give some very unsound advice to the listener.  Also for Taoism, the so-called "selflessness" however is nothing more than worldly merit.  Want a child?  Pray to the goddess of childbirth.  Want wealth?  Pray to the god of wealth.   I did remember a Chinese gambler who frequently went to the Taoist temples.  In Taoi...

God's Curse Upon Gambling!

One of the greatest hypocrisies that people are facing right now is the sin of legalized gambling. Why do I dare say it is hypocritical? It's because for one legalized gambling promotes all type of filth. We have laws against adultery but not against pornography, we have laws against stealing but not against gambling which is really a sin. Today, Christians must voice out not only against legalized prostitution and legalized pornography, they must also voice against legalized gambling. 1 Timothy 6:10 is true that in these days, the love for money is the root of all evil in the secular world plus gambling is mainly rooted upon the love for money. We ought to think that in every way, money is not evil but the love for it is really evil. Gambling in itself is fed because of the love of money. Pastor Mike Stahl a Baptist preacher had also revealed the ill effects of gambling, in truth it is a very lucrative business that sadly destroys lives. To be honest, gambling has been one of ...

Spurgeon Quotes on Gambling

Here are Spurgeon quotes on gambling... enjoy! "A young gambler is sure to be an old beggar if he lives long enough." "I hold (gambling) to be fraught with more deadly evils than anything else that could be invented, even by Satan himself. I saw an old respectable-looking man put down ten pounds. He won, and he received twenty. He put down the twenty; he won again, and he had forty. He put down the forty, and received eighty. He put down the eighty, and took up one hundred and sixty pounds. Then he put it all in his pocket, and walked away as calmly as possible. The man would lose money by that transaction, because he would go back on the morrow, and probably play till he would sell the house that covers his children’s heads, and pawn the very bed from under his wife. The worst thing that can happen to a man who gambles is to win. If you lose, it serves you right, and there is hope that you will repent of your folly; if you win, the devil will have you ...

Should Playing Cards Be Considered and Dismissed as Just Harmless Fun?

One issue about gambling is that once the foundation is set, it seems hard to get go. Is playing cards just harmless fun? Actually one should realize that everything starts on a small seed. Remember the mustard seed? It's a very small seed but it bears much fruit LATER . It's just like the issue of playing cards (which is gambling paraphernalia by the way) and they say, "Oh we're just having fun and you're being such a killjoy. We're not betting on anything." That statement can be so deceitful. If one tries to read sermons of old-fashioned preachers then they may end up stumbling against the issue of playing cards as well. There is in fact, nothing wrong with a Christian academy to ban playing cards and consider it as offensive as cheating in an exam- they should because the invention of cards was nothing more than meant to be for gambling just as marijuana and shabu are always meant to destroy people and earn dirty money. The Bible is clear in Numbers ...

Why Gambling is Always Wrong

Gambling is always wrong and is always a footman to deal with. Before somebody can launch the argument saying, "Well you can't show me one verse in the Bible that says gambling is wrong." it's time to really show the effects of gambling and what the Bible really has to say. The first instance of gambling in the Bible was with the Roman soldiers in Matthew 27:25, Mark 15:23-25, Luke23:24 and John 19:24. They were betting over Jesus' clothes by the foot of the cross. Then again, somebody can raise the objection that it's guilt by association. Now aside from just that, the effects of gambling should be looked at and to show why it's always bad. So why is gambling wrong? Here are a few reasons why: I. It's all about a "get rich quick" scheme Proverbs 13:11 warns about money that's easy come, easy go. Many people are just too lazy to work their way up, instead they want money fast. That's how sinister gambli...
