Confusing Lust with Love

The world will always have its wrong definition of love regardless of what time of the year it is. It can be true for Valentine's Day which is considered a Roman Catholic feast day. What is utterly disgusting is that Valentine's Day which they say is a love day has ended up being associated with Eros or better known a Cupid. One can see Cupid logos, believing Cupid's arrows will fly yet there is a sinister story behind Cupid. Cupid's Greek name as Eros is where the nasty word "erotic" comes from. Also, Aphrodite the lascivious, promiscuous goddess of sex has also been associated with the pagan festivities. In short from the introduction, it's all about confusing love with lust.

So what's the point? People confuse lust with love. It's like for example that they say, "I love the girl because she's so hot." However one has to be careful to define love. While agape love which Apostle Paul used in 1 Corinthians 13 described as patient, kind, does not envy, humble, forgiving and selfless lust is not. Lust usually gets impatient, unkind, envious, haughty, grudging and selfish. In what way? It results in sexual sins because one cannot wait. If you love your wife, you will not commit adultery as not to trigger envy. If you love somebody, you will not rape them. If you really love your boyfriend/girlfriend, you will say no to fornication and if it happens, take responsibility for it.

Here's another thing that has gone bad with Valentine's Day- desperate women go a whoring (and so do women who are prostitutes) and desperate men go after them to avoid "missing the wonderful feeling" which will only lead to Proverbs 5:11's guarantee of a bad end. Not very much Apostle Paul's definition of love at all isn't it just as it's mentioned above. The whole issue also has to be also where not only adultery and fornication but also sins like homosexuality can go worse. Why? They have no real understanding of what real love is. They are ignorant of God's righteousness. They're not saved from their sins.

Want real love? Look to Jesus. Look to He who loves you so much that He was obedient to the will of His Father even unto death so you can be set freed from sin.
