Tomorrow is Valentine's Day but do we really know the real meaning and ugly history behind Valentine's Day? If you do some historical study - there was a Christian martyr who is prayed to by the Roman Catholic institution known as Valentine. The very story of Valentine's Day is anything but romantic. It's when a Christian bishop or pastor during the reign of Emperor Claudius II - a monarch outlawed marriage for his soldiers. He was one who opposed the ridiculous rule of Claudius II and was eventually beheaded after several tortures. He refused to recant his Christian faith, preached in prison and performed marriages even when the emperor didn't allow it! The interesting note is that there is the Roman orgy festival known as Lupercalia which is said to be celebrated on February 15. There is the saying that you can't have the Great Commission without first obeying the Great Commandment. Mark 16:15 says, "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature." It's good to have missions. It's good to talk about reaching out the lost. But one must first ask this question, "Are you obeying the great commandment?" I was thinking about the tricky question of whether or not Christians should be involved with February 14. My answer is that it depends. For one, it should be a love day, not Valentine's day. Just like Christmas, Christians may celebrate February 14 but without the paganism. While Halloween is satanic and should be rejected because of its immoral practices of praising the occult, but certainly one can "celebrate" Halloween by honoring the Reformation instead. Christians should instead focus on Biblical love, not the worldly concept of love. The degenerate mind tends to misuse the word love and equate it with harmful stuff like lust. Ever since that earthquake struck in Bohol last week, it's been a major damage and one thing was certain, even some Christian assemblies in Bohol were destroyed by the quake perhaps as God's call for revival or chastising or to weed out false converts.  Recently, I was glad to hear that Pastor Armie F. I am so surprised at how overly liberated systems can be screwed up one way or another. If it's not teenagers that are the only groups of underaged dating but now children? In fact, believe it or not, you have children having their crushes maybe as early as SEVEN years old and then at TEN years old, yes much happens at ten results to where courtship, love triangles and love letters begin. I would say it pretty much disturbs me to how at TEN could children having the males court the girls (and this time, it can go to the unethical girls courting boys!) other and worse, dating each other. The world will always have its wrong definition of love regardless of what time of the year it is. It can be true for Valentine's Day which is considered a Roman Catholic feast day. What is utterly disgusting is that Valentine's Day which they say is a love day has ended up being associated with Eros or better known a Cupid. One can see Cupid logos, believing Cupid's arrows will fly yet there is a sinister story behind Cupid. Cupid's Greek name as Eros is where the nasty word "erotic" comes from. As this is love month - perhaps another topic that would be worth talking about is Boaz who was the son of Salmon and the former Canaanite harlot Rahab. What can be learned from Boaz? Many men today can't wait for their right women so they end up with the Delilahs of their wives instead. It may me too late to sing "Delilah" when the bad woman has done too much damage. So what was the big deal with Boaz? Boaz was simply a man who was doing what God had him to do. And his story with Ruth suggests that he was patiently waiting. It can be suggested the fact that Boaz had no mention of a previous marriage that he was still single. The fact that the called the Moabite Ruth as "daughter" suggests there was possibly a huge age gap between them. Knowing that marriages in ancient times happened when girls were at least sixteen years old may suggest he could be in his 40s or perhaps 50s. Regardless, Boaz must have been a very patient man. The whole world is saying to the typical fundamentalist Christian, "You are not showing the same kind of love Jesus is showing."  Well here's what - this Valentine's month, it's time to present that Jesus showed the real kind of love, not the twisted concept of love.  How loving is Jesus?  Here are some things you've got to realize: 1.) He loves people ENOUGH to tell them the truth about sin and remind them of their sins! Just as said, love does not rejoice in falsehood but rather rejoices in the truth (1 Corinthians 13:6).  A good example of Jesus' tough love was that in John 4:18, Jesus reminded the woman of the well that she was living in adultery. Well since it's Valentine's I would like to debunk the world's definition of love with what the Bible has to say. Most of the time love is abused and confused with like and lust, and usually it is confused with lust and selfishness in which it is not. Now it's time to discuss 1 Corinthians 13- the chapter of LOVE by the Apostle Paul. Here's what- a man can go right ahead and have all the greatness he has like speaking in the tongues of men and of angels, if there was no real love it would be nothing but a clanging cymbal or a resounding gong. Some even try to give everything they have but if it had not love, it would mean NOTHING as while loving results to giving but giving doesn't mean loving. Even with all the faith to move the heart of the woman yet have not love, what would it profit he gets the girl if he moved her heart but had not love?
