The Stupidity of the Saying, "God Will Only Help Those Who Help Themselves"

While God does not condone laziness and Christians must work in His will, however there's this rather absurd saying, "God will only help you if you help yourself." rather than correctly saying, "God will help you only if you are in His will." The problem with that statement is that so God will help those who are seeking their own glory? God forbid as for one truth must be settled, some people got rich by helping themselves but they never had God help them except that God permitted them to be rich but to their own ruin.

What is the reality here? God will help those who depend upon Him, not in the sense depend upon Him in idleness but rather depend upon Him while doing His will. To think of it, God's generals were not self-helping but rather God-cooperating as they were cooperating with God instead of doing the work themselves. Gideon, Jehoshaphat and Hezekiah had very difficult battles to face which only by doing God's will did they overcome it.

True dependence on God is never about lying down or just sitting down doing nothing, it's by acting accordingly to God's will. God doesn't want self-serving diligent people but rather dependent on Him diligent people. Nobody should be seeking God's help for selfish needs but only to glorify Him.
