Dr. Harry Allen Ironside on "Eternal Security of the Believer"

Dr. Harry Allen Ironside a great sin-hating, Bible-loving, old-fashioned revival Protestant preacher, though he is NOT a Baptist like I am but he certainly got the fundamentals for BIBLICAL Protestantism rather correct and not just mere diet Roman Catholicism.  Here Dr. H.A. Ironside had preached of the eternal security of the believer and so has Arthur Pink who some have accused of teaching salvation by works. John F. Macarthur had quoted some of the great works of Dr. H.A. Ironside on repentance and eternal security.  Now for some quotes on that wonderful sermon of what eternal security is all about and NOT according to the angle of easy-believism: On eternal security: When we speak of the eternal security of the believer, what do we mean? We mean that once a poor sinner has been regenerated by the Word and the Spirit of God, once he has received a new life and a new nature and has been made partaker of the divine nature, once he has been justified from every charge b

Arminianism and Its Dangers to Protestant and Baptist Soteriology

The Arminian view was written by Jacobus Arminius who was also a Pelagian, who believed that man doesn't have original sin.  If man had no original sin, what on Earth did Jesus die for the sins of man for?  It would be nonsense.  Please note however just because one Baptist movement isn't Calvinistic, it is Arminian. No, I used to be neither Calvinist nor Arminian.  So far, what makes Arminianism pretty deadly is this heresy called conditional perseverance which goes against the perseverance of the saints.  In my younger years as a believer, I was struggling with the question, "Can a person lose their salvation?" I believed that if you are in Christ, you cannot lose your salvation even if you stumble but a person may lose it if they deliberately choose to stop trusting Christ in order to go back to their former life until I ran into this truth again found in 1 John 2:19- either you are saved or not saved.  It's amazing how many Arminians today may even appeal

Matthew Henry and Vernon McGee on the Perseverance of the Saints

Image
Here are some quotes from Matthew Henry and Vernon McGee, both Presbyterian Christians who stood by once a Christian, always a Christian: Part of Matthew Henry's commentary in Hebrews 6 writes, "This therefore is no proof of the final apostasy of the true saints.  These (true believers) indeed may fall frequently and foully but yet they will not totally nor finally from God; the purpose and the power of God, the purchase and the prayer of Christ and the promise of the Gospel the everlasting covenant that God has made with them, ordered in all things and sure, the indwelling of the Spirit and the immortal seed of the Word these are their security.  But the tree that has not these roots will not stand." which can be found in Page 2389 of the Matthew Henry Commentary on the Whole Bible. Dr. J. Vernon McGee another Protestant preacher wrote on the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32, "Somebody is immediately going to say, 'Well this is the fellow who is

The Herodias Syndrome

Like it or not, there are women who suffer from what I call the "Herodias Syndrome".  In the Scriptures, we read Herodias' account as a very wicked woman who was previously married to Herod Philip but eloped with her brother-in-law, Herod Antipas and ran off with her daughter Salome under her custody in a live-in relationship.  What made this an entire public scandal was that Herod Antipas was also married, left his wife for a live-in relationship with his sister-in-law.  Now today, there are also women who are similar to Herodias.  This is a sad fact that feminism repeats the actions of wicked women like Delilah, Jezebel, Athaliah and also Herodias.  Compared to Bathsheba who repented of her adultery, these women can be habitually adulterous proving they aren't Christians if they would profess they are.  No true Christian even if they sin, can ever remain in an indefinite state of carnality. If I am to describe the Herodias syndrome, this pictures a woman who

God's Curse Upon Gambling!

One of the greatest hypocrisies that people are facing right now is the sin of legalized gambling. Why do I dare say it is hypocritical? It's because for one legalized gambling promotes all type of filth. We have laws against adultery but not against pornography, we have laws against stealing but not against gambling which is really a sin. Today, Christians must voice out not only against legalized prostitution and legalized pornography, they must also voice against legalized gambling. 1 Timothy 6:10 is true that in these days, the love for money is the root of all evil in the secular world plus gambling is mainly rooted upon the love for money. We ought to think that in every way, money is not evil but the love for it is really evil. Gambling in itself is fed because of the love of money. Pastor Mike Stahl a Baptist preacher had also revealed the ill effects of gambling, in truth it is a very lucrative business that sadly destroys lives. To be honest, gambling has been one of

Why Did Jesus Say "I Never Knew You" to the Damned?

What I blame for apostasy in the churches today is not the teaching of once saved, always saved but rather a watered down salvation message.  In fact, how do you expect a true conversion of there is no repentance about themselves being sinners?  Pretty much, one must realize either they are saved or not saved.  The problem with conditional security lies in the sin of pride.  In fact, one of the biggest questions towards conditional security is if they can answer this question on why Jesus said He NEVER knew them?  In Matthew 7:21-23 and Matthew 25:12 are the phrase "I never knew you." and "I know you not."  So why is that?  Let's take a little bit of context.  While they have used this verse to justify salvation by works or maintained by it, do they understand the real meaning of the word "never" here? In Matthew 7:21-23 we read, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven but he that doeth the will of

Authorities Should Enforce the Law, Not Their Own Wants

There was the statement I once foolishly made when I was still a child that I wanted to be the president so I could do what I want.  However that is plain foolish talk.  In the Bible, God anoints authorities to do His will and not to do what they want.  A good example is how God raised rulers and collapsed them like he did with Saul and Jeroboam.  A problem today is that many authorities however are being in power getting served but not serving the people.  These are what can be called as dictators like when Saul began using the throne of Israel for his self-interest, when Jeroboam began to create his own temple and appointing non-Levites for priests in his new temple and of course Ahab's corrupt regime. One must understand that service is a cycle and the Bible commands everybody must have that submissive attitude in reverence to Christ in Ephesians 5:21 that everybody should submit to each other in love for Christ.  If husbands expect wives to be obedient, they ought to be

An Unavoidable Circular Argument by Roman Catholics to Push Their Manmade Traditions

In an attempt to defend their traditions which Jesus calls in Mark 7:8-13 as rejecting the Word of God in order to keep their manmade traditions, I am amazed at how circular arguments are made.  I used to spend time arguing with these people though right now, I prefer to leave them alone because arguing with them makes no sense whatsoever.  I'm better off preaching at the pulpits and sharing Gospel tracts than wasting my time in foolish debates.  Now for some examples: The sacred oral tradition isn't polluted because the Bible isn't polluted. The Bible is the result of inspiration of the Holy Spirit through oral tradition. Jesus did not write but preached and many years had passed before the apostles began writing. Oral tradition came first before enscripted tradition which is the Bible. However we read this NEXT very contradictory argument: The Bible came from oral tradition, thus if the source is erroneous, the result is also erroneous . Th

Being Careful of "Because We Said So" Theology

I would admit that I have certain favorite preachers like John MacArthur, Paul Washer, Ray Comfort, Robert Charles Sproul, Charles Spurgeon, Billy Sunday, David Cloud, Lester Roloff and Estus Pirkle to name a few but we have to realize these- these are men and not God.  True they are men of God but they are not God.  The problem with the "because we said so theology" is as stupid as this: The problem with "Catholic Clips" is the "because we said so" theology.  Nobody should put their pastors on the pedestal because it can be very misleading.  Pastor-centered churches are dangerous because they can operate as cults that where, "Because the pastor says so." and not because the Bible says so.  That is why people are commanded to STUDY their Bible.  I would admit that even some of my favorite preachers tend to disagree with each other in certain points that's why I rely on studying the Bible rather than relying on them all the time.  Pa

Manny Pacquiao's Conversion: True or False?

Image
Bro. Gerry Soliman of Solutions Finder Apologetics who I wish to soon meet in person has actually raised the issue of rumors that Pacquiao had returned to Roman Catholicism .  The truth of the matter is once saved, always saved.  That is a true Christian remains a true Christian no matter what the circumstances may be by God's grace and true faith in Christ continues by God's grace and not by man's effort.  Anybody who supposedly converted to Christianity but later fell away completely was never saved to begin with (1 John 2:19).  Friends, either you are saved or not and the kind of live you live tells the person you are.  Christians do good works only for God's glory, the works salvationist does it in a vain effort to save himself but fail.  By reading the entry from Bro. Gerry's blog, it looks like Pacquiao had a genuine conversion and not a false one. I am really annoyed at how dirty Roman Catholic apologists have gotten who now also said that the

September 11 Nothing to Do With Islam? Don't You Believe It!

It's utterly hypocritical how Islam is still considered peaceful despite the obvious evidences that it isn't. Talk about battered wives, battered children, pedophile Muslims, Islamic terrorists or the recent attacks in Mindanao in the Philippines by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, etc. In fact, it's been at least 12 years since 9/11 and people still insist that Islam had nothing to do with 9/11.  Truth cannot be denied that planes really crashed into the Twin Towers in New York. It wasn't like the conspiracy theory of "no planes, the government did it". The truth is Osama Bin Ladin then made a broadcast, you have to admit that the whole incident was also called Allah's wrath on America. Islamic terrorists are supported by Islamic states like Pakistan for one. Islam could be the start of another global conflict and some pastors I've talked to believe that. Islam might as well be the second horsemen in Revelation 6. Jesuit or Illumina

Does Devotion to Mary Bring a Person Closer to Christ?

Image
Since it is September 8 which is the traditional birthday of Mary the mother of Jesus in the flesh, Roman Catholics have told me that they only pray to Mary to "get closer to Jesus" and that in their devotion to Mary, they are getting closer to Jesus.  However looking at the Rosary, the 12 noon prayer and 6:00 prayer, they are ALL devoted to Mary.  As a former Roman Catholic, I remembered kissing the picture of Mary whenever I passed an exam or was a sincere Marian devotee.  I prayed three Hail Marys before going to bed, I asked Mary to intercede for me, I prayed the Rosary, I was a keen observer of the Marian miracles to the point people asked me if I wanted to become a Roman Catholic priest.  In devotion to Mary, many attributes that are to Jesus alone are given to Mary like "Queen of Heaven", "Help of Christians", "Ark of the Covenant", "Conceived without Sin", "Queen of Nations" and the titles of the Father are given t

Are Those Sissy "Liberals" Calling Men of God as Terrorists?

Today it's not even politically correct to preach that Jesus Christ is Lord of all and that He is the only Savior of the world and every other way goes to Hell.  To the world today, preaching John 14:6 is tantamount to religious extremism.  Many times I've been compared to Osama bin Ladin whenever I tell Roman Catholics that their worship practice is wrong, whenever I say that the Bible is the only truth for spiritual matters, that Christianity is the only right religion and that whenever I insist in removing the Devil's music.  In fact I was called as Pastor Osama bin Ladin when I told them that Islam is not peaceful.  What many fail to see is the difference between them.  In fact, I may be getting redundant but I just love to quote from what Pastor John F. Macarthur wrote in his book "The Jesus You Can't Ignore" about how the world is now comparing fundamental Christianity to the Taliban way of life.  I really find it annoying how people call Christian fund

The Syrian War and Islam

I remembered the message that Pastor Ruben L. Lumagbas Jr. or Pastor Jun Lumagbas for short had preached about the coming end times. In fact, I even took the whole election of Francis I from the Jesuit Order to be a sign of the end times and the fact that he's Italian and Francis of Assisi had "Pietro" or Peter in his full name, Francis I could be Peter the Roman, the False Prophet. With Syria as of late, remember this is a Muslim nation and a descendant of Ishmael. Isaiah 17:1 writes, "The burden of Damascus, behold Damascus taken away from being a city and it shall be a ruinous heap." Syria in history has been a known enemy to the Jewish people and you might consider the historical event where Antiochus Epiphanes desecrated the Jewish Temple of his time by sacrificing a pig and putting a statue of Zeus. The whole issue of war with Syria is nothing new and not surprising to anybody who studies prophecy. The Bible is so accurate yet people choose to laugh at i

Interesting Science with the Death of Herod Agrippa I

In Acts 12:20-24 we read of the account of Herod Agrippa I (who is merely called Herod here, do not confuse him with Herod Antipas and his infamous adultery with his sister-in-law who according to Josephus was also his niece which doubles the offense).  Here we can read the account that he gave not God the glory but looked like he was going to claim himself as God, but they were going to find out that God wasn't going to share His glory with no mortal man.  In verse 22-23 we read that an angel of God smote him and the wicked monarch was eaten of worms.  An interesting take from extrabiblical information which no way contradicts the Bible actually reveals the king may have been struck by disease which was written by Jewish historian Josephus in Antiquities 19:8:2: Now when Agrippa had reigned three years over all Judea, he came to the city Cesarea, which was formerly called Strato’s Tower; and there he exhibited shows in honor of Caesar, upon his being informed that there was a

The Works Salvationist Robs Away the Glory From God!

Image
The works salvationist or proponent of conditional security may ask me, "If good works do not save or keep you saved why do you do good works?" or "Well God being righteous demands we work for our salvation."  But that is the lie that many are subjected to.  Folks, the problem with works salvation is that it steals the glory from God.  Man in himself is a sinner.  Romans 3:10-19 declares the total depravity of man.  The Pharisees who sought to justify themselves by their supposedly holier lives only fell out of God's grace.  Despite the fact that the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 2:12 to work out salvation with fear and trembling (which the Catholic Bible puts 'to complete' in the Good News translation), however even in the Catholic versions Philippians 2:13 declares that it is God that works in Christians!  It is God that works in believers.  It's all God's work.  Hebrews 9:14 declares God has redeemed the Christian from theri state of s

A Clearer Understanding of Calvinism

Looking at the five points of Calvinism, there is the Hyper View and the Moderate View. Now here's a clearer understanding of the Calvinist point of view of Reformed Theology which Spurgeon upheld: 1.) Total depravity It means that it is not just badness but blindness to God's beauty and deadness to the deepest joy. Romans 3:10-19 clearly speak of the total depravity of man. 2.) Unconditional election It means that the completeness of our joy in Jesus was planned for us before we ever existed in the overflow of God's joy in the fellowship of the Trinity. Notice the words in 2 Thessalonians 2:13 saying that at the beginning they were chosen for salvation. God even told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5 that he knew the prophet even before He formed the latter in the womb. 3.) Limited atonement While Hyper-Calvinism chooses to view this in the way that Jesus didn't die for all men, but certainly Jesus didn't die for everybody but only man. He didn

What's Wrong with Adults Lying to Children About Santa Claus?

Image
Finally it's the first month of September (we are now in the -ber months and the world is celebrating Xmas not Christmas, Clausmas not Christmas and Giftmas not Christmas this December because Jesus tends to be forgotten on Christmas A LOT) and I can remember as a Roman Catholic-raised child, I believed in Santa Claus and everything he does and the "ber"months were around the corner and when I get excited thinking about the non-truthful event that Santa Claus is coming and he's got a gift for me when that was all a lie my parents set up to make me behave but it only MADE MY MISBEHAVIOR WORSE. Well, that's the problem I have discovered looking back at my rather emotionally rough, Christless childhood- children are prone to believing what adults tell them. When an adult tells them that there's a boogeyman, they believe it. Tell them about Santa Claus being real, they believe it. Children by nature are very gullible and innocent, making them fertile groun

Signs of the Times... All Eyes on Israel and More!

Yup you have to keep all eyes on Israel. From the time of the War Between Israel and the Arab nations to the time Israel became a nation again in 1948, NOT YET God is done with Israel. The problem today is that many Jews still reject Jesus as the Messiah and like everybody else, They aren't-exempt They MUST be born again. This blog has also reached Israel and I am hoping that some Jews will soon be saved reading this blog. The rest of the Jewish people that refuse to get saved Either will be Now for some interesting news Some people believe that the lightning that struck the Vatican shortly after Benedict XVI emeritus was actually a sign of the end times. Pope Francis I last April 30, 2013 had accepted the invitation of Shimon Peres . How foolish is Israel becoming! Any concordat with the Vatican makes it will just lead to THEIR destruction. Unfortunately some Roman Catholic Jews have done their part to hide the truth behind the Roman Catholic's brutal histo
