Atheism and Mental Health

Although the sources I have read were pretty much from either Roman Catholic publications or Jehovah's Witness' "Awake", I just thought I might share about my thoughts on why atheism can affect mental health and which it really does.  One could consider these verses from the Bible in Romans 1:21-22, "Because that when they knew God they glorified Him not as God; neither were thankful but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." 

To the atheist, they say that atheism is better for the mental health but not according to facts.  One could consider the mental state of people like Mao Zedong, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Karl Marx, Pol Pot, Kim Jung Il, Margaret Sanger and Madalyn Murray O among a group of people who actually have been genocidal maniacs.  In fact here's some facts that prove atheism is not good for the mental health:

  • Atheist states like Communist China under the Maoist regime, North Korea under the Kim Dynasty, Cambodia under Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge and other atheist states have very high illiteracy rates and unusually high poverty rates.  When China was under Communist control, it became so left behind with world affairs but when Christianity started to flourish in China in the midst of persecution, it became a better nation even if it's still a dictatorship today.  Non-atheist states Christian or not even the poorest ones still have better literacy.  
  • The genocide rates of atheist dictators are no better than the theist dictators like Roman Catholic despots like Adolph Hitler or Muslim dictators like Muammar Gaddafi.  You could consider the brutality of dictators like Mao Zedong, Vladimir Lenin, Deng Xiaopeng (and his infamous Tiananmen Square incident), Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge or Kim Jung Il are no better than Hitler's anti-Semitism or Muammar Gaddafi's 42 year dictatorship in Libya.
  • When America was a God-fearing nation, literacy rates improved.  However with the rise of atheism in America, you can see how destructive the public schools have become after they banned prayer and the Bible.  Problems like school shooting, fraternities and premarital sex were hardly heard of until the idea of natural selection was taught as "biology" when it isn't.
  • Atheist states have the wickedness of eugenics which Richard Dawkins approves as well as the wickedness of abortion, treating sex for carnal reasons and even disrespect for marriage.
  • Madalyn Murray whose son became a Christian had also much to talk about his mother's immoral lifestyle was no better than the religious hypocrites.  She hated God with a passion.
  • Atheists have no life and no hope except to please themselves and yet the pleasures of this world are fleeting.  In business, you don't always succeed.  Even big time businessmen can be swindled.  Some people even lose millions to a close friend.  You could think that they get millions, they want billions, they get billions, they want zillions and the cycle and go on and on for all you please.
  • The idea that man is an animal (or came from apes or is just an evolved ape) has them suddenly surprised why people are acting according to instinct than according to conscience.  It reminds me of people eating each other in North Korea because of starvation and the idea that it's the survival of the fittest.
  • The atheist must struggle between the idea of Richard Dawkins' idea that there are no moral principles, only pitiless indifference and their so-called quest for morality.  In fact, I just had to laugh my head off when an atheist wrote a book in search for the truth calling Christians liars when he thinks sin is just a fantasy word.  
  • Also a lot of atheists have very foul mouths.  Sometimes I wonder for those of them who have families do they even kiss their wife and children with that kind of mouth?

In fact the atheist knows that God is real but such a person still chooses to reject God one way or another.
