The Horrors of the Horrid Family: The Herods and Inbreeding

One can think about the incest and intrigue of the Herodian family are the whispers of the world "incestuous". It's because historically these people have been involved in so much incest which may have been another major reason why their clan fell apart.

1.) Herodias (or Horridias as I want to call her) is the daughter of Aristobulus a much older son of Herod the Great by Mariamne I was married to her half-uncle, Herod Philip I and had a freak daughter named Salome. Salome wouldn't be a normal child either considering she was born of incest between half-uncle and half-niece. So she was both granddaughter and great-granddaughter to the wicked Herod the Great. I guess Salome was a retard too though she did live long enough. Note also that Herodias was the sister of Herod Agrippa I who was later eaten of worms as the throne was later lost out of her greed. Also Herodias' parents were first cousins which makes her a freak already.

2.) Herodias later eloped with her half-uncle Herod Antipas who was rebuked by John the Baptist for his unlawful concubinage with his half-niece - as if Herodias' marriage to her half-uncle wasn't bad enough. Herod Antipas was married to a daughter of Aretas IV of Arabia so why he committed adultery and incest with his half-niece is completely incomprehensible. That act resulted to a loss when a battle was fought. It was unlawful for Herodias to be with Herod Antipas because the latter was still married to that certain daughter of Aretas IV. So John the Baptist was not only condemning Herod Antipas for adultery for leaving his wife but also for incest because Herodias was the daughter of Aristobulus who was the half-brother of both Herod Antipas and Herod Philip.

3.) During the events of the Gospel, on the birthday of Herod Antipas, Herodias asked her daughter Salome to dance for Antipas who is also the niece and grandniece of Herod Antipas considering that she was his brother's daughter and niece's daughter at the same time (gross). This dance must have been seductive to deceive Herod Antipas into giving Herodias the head of John the Baptist. It was also possible that Herod Antipas had advances towards Salome too. In the case of Salome, her mother is a result of incest between cousins and she is a result of incest between uncle and niece, her father is also her great-uncle which makes her have several genetic defects already!

4.) Later Salome legally married (but was childless that time) her uncle/granduncle Philip II as show in the family tree made her both the auntie and sister-in-law of her mother at the same time, causing more confusion than you can imagine to an already confused family tree. She later married a cousin of hers and had freak children. I just thought that all the genetic defects brought down an end to their incestuous dynasty. In Egypt, incest was so prevalent that the royal house also fell apart later because of it. No wonder the Herods were a family of morons!

Also in the Bible in Leviticus 18 warns about incest. Unfortunately Herodias had sexual relations with her father's brother which was strictly forbidden, history also tells us her grandfather Herod the Great arranged her to marry her half uncle Herod Philip I after her father Aristobulus was executed. It seems that Herod Philip I was young enough to be her older brother even if she was in reality, his half-niece. God wrote laws against incest and inbreeding later to protect people from its harmful consequences.
