False Preachers Are Denying God by Their Sinful Lifestyle

Titus 1:16 reveals how one can profess God but deny Him by their actions saying, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny Him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."

To understand what it means to be reprobate unto every good work (which I re-stated the words in simpler English for clearer understanding), here's John Gill's commentary on the matter:
And unto every good work reprobate: or "unaccustomed", unused to them, as the Arabic version renders it; or rather "without judgment", and understanding, concerning them; there was no good in them, nor was it in them to do good; to do good they had no knowledge, nor any inclination; they were unfit for it, and had not a capacity to perform it; they were not good themselves, and therefore could not do good; the tree must first be made good, ere its fruit will be good;they were without Christ, and without His Spirit, and grace, without which no man can do anything that is spiritually good; they had no true faith, and therefore what they did was sinful; they had neither right principles, from which, nor right ends to which they acted, and therefore were not qualified for the performance of good works; which require that men should be good men, created in Christ Jesus, be believers in Him, and have principles of truth and love, and views to the glory of God.

The Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary also says:
16. They profess—that is, make a profession acknowledging God. He does not deny their theoretical knowledge of God, but that they practically know Him.
deny him—the opposite of the previous "profess" or "confess" Him (1Ti 5:8; 2Ti 2:12; 3:5).
abominable—themselves, though laying so much stress on the contracting of abomination from outward things (compare Le 11:10-13; Ro 2:22).
disobedient—to God (Tit 3:3; Eph 2:2; 5:6).
reprobate—rejected as worthless when tested (see on [2525]Ro 1:28; [2526]1Co 9:27; [2527]2Ti 3:8).

To understand what it means to deny God by one's sinful lifestyle would mean that as said, these people claim to know God, they can claim to know God and many false preachers claim to know God but their actions deny Him. These happen because they are not saved and work is not good unless it's only for the glory of God. To perform acts of goodness either for the motive of pride or self-preservation rather than to please God as a result of one's gratitude is a dead work.

Hebrews 9:14 says the wonderful truth, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" When you are saved, you were purged from dead works to serve God with good works. When one is saved it results in an attitude of gratitude that makes them want to serve God more. It is not a salvation that still allows a person to have no change at all.

False preachers can be exposed as people who deny God by these two ways:

1.) The conditional security preachers

I have often observed how conditional security preachers say the teaching of eternal security immediately gives the Christian the mindset that they can sin all they want because they can't lose their salvation. The statement is only partly true if you talk about the Antinomian view of eternal security. While the Reformers taught of the doctrine of eternal security, they did not teach that you can sin all you want and showed that such thinking cannot be part of the Christian mindset. Considering that later Protestant Christians were mostly Calvinists such as the Puritans - they emphasized on the Scriptural truth of the Perseverance of the Saints which shows that true Christians are bound to endure to the end. There is no reason for me to believe that anybody who falls out from the faith is still saved because that person has never been saved to start with.

Going back to the conditional security preachers, they have claimed that conditional security helps them in true and righteous living. What they may have missed or ignored is that conditional security is rooted on the pride of life. If a person is doing good works to stay saved then it gets the merit away from God because good works are the effect, not the cause of salvation. Because the status of their salvation is dependent on one's own effort to do all the good they can rather than their salvation is the reason why the Christians are doing all the good they can, it is nothing but boasting about one's salvation rather than doing works out of a humbled and sanctified heart, it is the reason why many of them are very arrogant individuals. A Christian's duty of doing good works is more than just a mandate but their delight as they do what they have to do out of love. Romans 3:31 states that faith does not make the Law void but it establishes the Law.

However, the fruit of their actions can be easily seen as Jesus warned in Matthew 7:14-20 that by their fruits they will be known. A lot of these conditional security preachers can be seen living a sinful lifestyle or while they claim to always speak the truth, they are lying for their own convenience or to make them look pure and holy. What happens is that more often than not, the conditional security crowd ends up showing their rotten filth especially when some of its biggest proponents turn out to have their huge scandals like cheating their parishioners, womanizing, gambling, drinking and the like doing the very sins they condemn. Some of them even condemn Roman Catholicism but they are on the same road to Hellfire because they teach a faith plus works salvation which Romans 11:6 states you are either saved by faith or by works, never both. Good works is the result of faith, dead works is a result of non-faith.

Romans 2:21 says, "Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?" in short, practice what you preach and many conditional security preachers are just a bunch of losers who fail to practice what they teach. It's because they rely on their own human ability which leads to the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and their doctrine feeds the pride of life. As Matthew 7:23 says, "I never knew you. Depart from me ye that doeth iniquity." In verses 21-22, they claimed and bragged about their good works but their secret sins were exposed on Judgment Day showing how they really fell short of God's standard of true holiness.

2.) The Antinomian preachers

It's easy for someone to get misled when a person quotes salvation is by grace through faith but beware, some people who quote Ephesians 2:8-9 are actually Antinomians or those who think their salvation grants them a license to sin. Now not all of them are direct Antinomians as some of them don't want to directly say that salvation grants a license to sin while injecting that deadly poison by other means. Sometimes it can be indirectly fed with the doctrine of the continuous carnal Christian which it teaches that a Christian can remain in the field of carnal lifestyles indefinitely.

While I don't claim myself to be sinlessly perfect, I can fall into carnality, backsliding can happen for years but there's a huge difference between the immature Christian and the false convert reveling in sin. The immature Christian is called carnal or sarkinois because they are immature. They may have not been carnal in the sense that they were living like the rest of the world but they do have issues to take care of. As John 15:1-8 addresses the fact that the Father prunes the Christians so they may bear more fruit. Hebrews 12:5-7 states that God chastises His own. With those verses in mind, I don't see any reason that a person can claim to be a Christian and live like the rest of the world. Even the most immature Christian will puke if they were relocated to any modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah.

The doctrine of the continuous carnal Christian sends people to Hell as much as the doctrine of works salvation. If your Jesus Christ is not Lord and Savior and just Savior then your Jesus Christ is not the Jesus Christ of the Bible. It's so unimaginable that anybody can get saved and remain as sinful as they are, they can still stay as homosexuals, they can still stay as murderers and thieves. If they do stay bad after they supposedly became Christians then they are not saved at all. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 states the truth that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God which means they will never be heirs of it, they will not enter it followed by, "And such were some of you." which states that before they were saved, they were so sinful but now they are saved, they are now sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Sanctification is not optional but it is the inevitable result of the Christian life.

If you have true grace then it should result in good works and a struggle against sin on a daily basis as Romans 7:14-25 describes the Apostle Paul's struggle against sin. Yet the same Apostle Paul also wrote the wonderful truth of God's grace in Titus 2:11-14 that God's grace transforms the Christian into a peculiar people zealous of good works, rejecting ungodliness in the present world. It's really abhorrent for anybody to say that God's grace is a license to lasciviousness (Jude 1:4) because true grace does not teach any unrighteous living. Even if salvation is neither earned nor kept by good works but if a Christian has God's grace, it would be time to really say that only false converts think that it's a license to sin. Anybody who claims to be saved but lives so sinfully without any conviction should not even be considered a brother or sister in Christ.
