Sinful Man Hates the Fact That God is Sovereign

The great preacher Charles H. Spurgeon once said that no doctrine is more offensive to man than the truth that God is sovereign. It's really annoying to anybody's sinful self when they're reminded of how God is sovereign and man isn't. Man is inclined to wanting their own way not God's way. It's very common for man to wish that they could just have it their way and not God's way. But the problem is that man wishes they had their way. God says no but man doesn't want to have no for an answer. That kind of attitude had caused man to lose Paradise all because Adam and Eve didn't follow God's will. The world has been in chaos all because they don't want to respect the sovereignty of God.

Here's what the Bible says about man's attitude towards God's sovereignty:
Romans 1:21 - Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

They know God is in charge but they don't want Him to be in charge of their lives. They hate the idea that God should be their Boss and that He's sovereign. They hate the idea that He is Lord and that one day they'll have to answer to Him. They hate the idea that God is in charge yet He doesn't magically make all the problems of the world go away. Some atheists may reply that their turn to atheism was because God is unfair and unjust not to prevent the tragedy from happening. Others want a doctrine that's man-centered because it feeds the lust of the flesh.

The fact that God is sovereign doesn't feed to the three areas of sin: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. If God says no then it's no. The fact God is sovereign also has helped establish the doctrine of election that you couldn't choose God if He didn't choose you. In fact, these verses can be very humbling:
John 15:16 - "Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He may give it you."
Ephesians 1:4 - "According as He hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:"
2 Thessalonians 2:13 - "But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:"

The sovereignty of God removes all bragging! It doesn't feed the flesh! It doesn't glorify the pride of life! It doesn't gratify the lust of the eyes! It's all about God being in charge of everything including when He allows Satan and the demons to attack the believer. Satan must get God's permission first before the former could cause any damage to any Christian. God also restrains Satan from doing any further harm. God had every reason to allow both good and bad in the lives of the believer because He's in charge!
