Christians Should Join Together Rejecting the COVID-19 End-Times Hype

Image
It's August 2020 and the COVID-19 crisis is still ongoing now, isn't it? Well, it's very easy to start off with another "end times" hype, right? The big problem for some time and a big sign of the last days is the end-times hype. Yes, it's a sign of the last days. The Bible uses the term "last days" a lot and Paul warned Timothy of the last days . Did it seem to be a prophecy for centuries after Timothy would have died? It would be doubtful since Paul was giving Timothy advice on how to live in the last days. Yes, the last days already started ever since Jesus ascended into Heaven. We don't know when's the last of the last days. Unfortunately, some people like the late Harold Camping just love to make up speculations. Even some fake Rapture dates were made. Who can ever forget the fake assumption that the Rapture would hit last December 21, 2012? Guess what? It's already past December 21, 2012, and it's been seven years since that dat...

Christianity and the Research for a COVID-19 Vaccine

Image
It's something that Christians have been seriously misled by anti-vaccine protesters. Some of the worst sites for Christians to visit are Jesus-is-Savior and Reformation Online. Both their webmasters (David J. Stewart and Patrick Scrivener) are fond of conspiracy theories and half-truths. Stewart has made a claim that vaccines supposedly kill and Scrivener has even called Edward Jenner a "Jesuit". Not surprisingly Stewart is writing half-truths about the Coronavirus. I started having doubts about vaccination because of Stewart and Scrivener. The recent one has the scare that the COVID-19 vaccine will become the "Mark of the Beast" which might cause unnecessary panic yet again. I remembered how membership shopping was considered to be the Mark of the Beast. Then credit cards and I don't know what's next. I do believe that a lot of stuff today are gateways to the Mark of the Beast but they are not the same thing. Did membership-only groceries owned by p...

Please Practice Social Distancing from Medical Conspiracy Theories

Image
As the Coronavirus is still raging on  - there's really a lot of reasons for conspiracy theorists to step forward, right? One of the biggest medical hoaxes was a video called "Plandemic". It turns out that the whole video was a manufactured hoax. Medical conspiracy theories have been promoted by quackery sites such as The Reformation Online, Jesus-is-Savior, Infowars, and Now the End Begins just to name a few. Reading through them showed that they're indeed against vaccines. Jesus-is-Savior's David J. Stewart (who's probably out and in parole) is now writing about the Coronavirus . The problem of Stewart is that he loves to hang around conspiracy theory nutjobs. His blog is not surprisingly revealing that he hangs out with another extreme nutjob named Steven Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church. Does the guy now even condone to killing homosexuals than evangelizing them as part of the mission field? One of Stewart's statements might make you want t...

Surviving and Winning Against COVID-19 by Obeying Romans 13

The Coronavirus pandemic is still going on worldwide. Some people are making things worse by not obeying simple rules and regulations. They are told to stay at home and they are told why they need to stay at home. They are given guidelines on dos and don'ts. Others are given permission to work from home as mandated by the government. Yet, they still don't want to obey that mandate. The only time the mandate must not be followed is only when you're told to disobey God or do something evil. However, Christians are told to pray for wicked authorities. Daniel 3 tells us about how Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego disobeyed King Nebuchadnezzar but they exercised civil disobedience. You don't see the three of them rebelling against the king. They disobeyed the king in the most civil way possible and accepted whatever punishment may come. Subjection to authority Now, why do I think about surviving COVID-19 by surviving Romans 13? Here is what Romans 13:1-7 presents: Le...

So You'd Rather Read Nostradamus' Prophecies Than the Bible During This Coronavirus Epidemic?

Image
It's amazing at how sinful man will usually turn to anyone except God in times of crisis. Now, it's even alleged that Nostradamus supposedly "predicted" the rise of the Coronavirus. Now, we need to consider the real problem is how people easily get fooled by quack prophecies not just on April Fool's Day but whole year-round. Rather than turn to the Bible for comfort while waiting for answers - some people would rather read through the prophecies of Nostradamus instead. Ironic how people will say, that only man wrote the Bible. However, they will turn to the writings of man for answers. It's an unfortunate reality of self-contradiction that's observed on a daily basis. In the book "Will The World End in 2012?" - we can read in the fourth chapter titled "The Predictions of Nostradamus". The book was available last 2012 when it was believed that the world (or for some, the Rapture) will supposedly end on that date. To note, Nostradamus...

Are You Worried or Are You Concerned?

It's very easy to confuse worry with concern especially in the midst of the current Coronavirus crisis, right? China even reports that Christians are persecuted in the midst of the crisis. A new virus in China called the Hantavirus is also emerging. However, the Bible says not to worry but it doesn't say we shouldn't be concerned. When Jesus spoke in Matthew 6:25-34 and Luke 12:22-31 about not to worry - He didn't mean that we're to be idle. On the contrary, you could consider that 2 Thessalonians 3:6-10 says that if any man works not then that man should not eat. 1 Timothy 5:8 says that you must provide for your family or be considered worse than a heretic. The Book of Proverbs also condemns laziness in 6:6-12, 10:4-5, 12:11, 12:24, 13:4, 14:23, 19:15, 20:4, 24:30-24, and 26:15. If you ask, "If you're not worried then why do you work?" The answer lies in the difference between worry and concern. How do you differentiate both sides? Although the two ...

Did the Lord Jesus Condemn the Washing of Hands as a Hygienic Practice?

The Coronavirus is indeed spreading out, right? One of the biggest and most practical safety applications is to wash your hands properly . I have no problem with that when health experts tell me to do this and that for the good of people's health. However, some might think that Jesus condemned the washing of hands as a hygienic practice. Let's try to clear out this misunderstanding by understanding what was really emphasized when Jesus rebuked the Pharisees. I decided to go to search for some commentaries. It's because I believe that Jesus would convict me to wash my hands for health reasons. A bigger picture of the context would tell us that it was more than just going against the Pharisees' lack of compassion. It was most likely going against superstition. Here's an excerpt from the " Enduring Word Bible Commentary " where we can read the following on the issue of handwashing: b. But eat bread with unwashed hands: The religious leaders meant elabo...

The Ongoing Coronavirus Outbreak, God's Sovereignty, and Christian Responsibility

Is the Coronavirus outbreak within the sovereignty of God? Right now, it's no joke that the Coronavirus outbreak is now pandemic or a disease that spreads across a large region. I was wondering, "Why does God allow so much suffering?" When something happens to be agreeable then it's easy to say "God is good!" However, the problem arises when something bad happens and it's difficult to believe that it's God's will. I remembered getting into an argument with a former enemy of mine who kept telling me that it's God's will. What was shameful to think about that he wasn't saved yet at that time - though he later got saved eventually. I really had a hard time adjusting to God's sovereignty especially when I'm told stuff like it's God's will that I failed or I currently suffer, that I should just shut up, trust God, and do my part. It felt so hard for my immature self to accept that sometimes it's God's will that Chri...

Moving Forward by Going Beyond the See Level

Introduction The Christian faith can be very absurd to the world. There are many times Christians are told to do what's humanly speaking, foolish. The call is to live by faith and not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 has Paul expressing to live by faith and not by sight. No, this isn't called to blind faith or to just believe without examining. I remembered that Christians are laughed at for many reasons. The reality of God and His Gospel are hard to believe also because people also tend to live by sight I think about why do many religions in the world have graven images. I remembered how various religions such as Roman Catholicism, Buddhism, Jainism, Hinduism, the "Orthodox" churches, Taoism, and many more use graven images. I remembered reading in a Roman Catholic catechism and a Buddhist catechism with what they say about graven images. The Buddhist pamphlet said that it's not the image they worship but the one portrayed by it - a defense to why they don't...

Say Yes to Proverbs 5 Sex Education, Say No to Worldly Sex Education

While doing some reading through Proverbs 5 yesterday and I found the late J. Vernon McGee's heading for this chapter to be rather interesting. It was called, "God's Sex Education". It is amazing how the whole chapter reveals what's wrong with the worldly sex education system. I remembered disliking the term sex education because of the negative connotations along with it. Sex is a wonderful thing in God's boundaries but a horrible thing when it steps outside God's boundaries. Sexual intercourse was designed for human beings. However, it only becomes evil when people decide to engage in sexual perversion. Why am I opposed to secular sex education? I remembered in the video "If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do?" by Estus Pirke (unfortunately, said video had the late pervert Jack Hyles in it) discussed about the fall of the public education system. How often are children taught about the erotic zones of pleasure? One way or another - people ...
