Commentary on 1 Timothy 6:3-5
1 Timothy 6:3-5 says, "If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself."
This is a warning that Paul sent Timothy and it applies to Christians. False preachers these days are indeed within the midst. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:15 saying, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." It is indeed very true. Titus 1:15-16 says, "Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny Him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." It indeed matches up to 1 Timothy 6:3-5 which is the commentary here.
As the introduction would call it as teaching otherwise meaning they preach a Gospel which is not another (Romans 15:20, 2 Corinthians 10:16, Galatians 1:7) and they reject the doctrine of Jesus Christ in favor of their own. It's all based upon their own righteousness, not God's (Romans 10:3) so it leads to moral relativism and self-righteousness. As said, the grace of God teaches men to live upright because they love God, not out of a burden but out of gratitude (Titus 2:11-15) and any good works is a result of being saved, not something done in order to be saved or to stay saved- so no man could boast (Ephesians 2:8-10). However they are so self-righteous they think what they do is always right even when they are in the wrong.
Here's something that can be noticed among the works salvation proponents (many are homosexuals) and other types of God rejecting people as Antinomian preachers, atheist leaders and liberation theologists- they display these attitudes which can be seen in almost every media especially television: extreme arrogance, pretending to be smart yet in the reality knows nothing, they think they are smarter than everyone else to the point they can't accept they could be wrong, loves to argue which can come in the form of USELESS debates in which are filled with bad words (like fuck, shit and asshole), envy, strife, railing, accusing without sufficient evidence in which most of it is just a dream painting the world as they it which makes them extremely dishonest and they have a very abrasive personality no doubt. They may appear to be friendly at first but later, that abrasiveness is manifest with a lot of bad things to look out for from these self-righteous clowns. As said, they will always be known by their works (Matthew 7:14).
