Errors in Easy Believism

There is the error called easy believism which differentiates itself from the Lordship theology.  What makes it different?  So far thanks to watered down preaching, easy believism is a heresy that has crept into the churches which some of these outrageous heresies are being taught and how they do not match Scriptures:

1.) Easy believism EXCLUDES repentance as part of saving faith

Believe it or not, that's one error in easy believism.  They try to misquote the book "Except Ye Repent" by Harry Allen Ironside.  The reality of the matter is repentance is necessary.  Jesus Himself said in Mark 1:15, "REPENT ye and believe the Gospel." and in Luke 13:3 saying, "I tell you, nay, except ye REPENT ye shall likewise perish.".  Again the Bible calls to repentance towards salvation.  A repentance of one's sins happens because unless a person even repents of their sins, they will NEVER want to get saved.  As said, yes, salvation is never worked for, it's only full trust in Jesus Christ but unless there is a repentant heart, nobody will want to get saved!

2.) It can promote the idea that there are Christians who are still living like devils

This is another reality that has to be tackled.  1 Corinthians 3:1 says, "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ."  Yes that is true, there are some Christians who still are struggling with carnality but NEVER enslaved to carnality.  When Jesus saves the person, He has freed them from the burden of sin HOWEVER they are yet to reach sinless perfection.  They have already become disciples but they need to be trained further to overcome the problem of carnality which however does not mean they are sinning pleasurably.  One thing- how can a Christian live like the rest of the world if salvation brings a CHANGED LIFE?  Ephesians 2:10 has it that Christians are saved to serve not to sin.  Is Romans 4:5 then just an excuse to sin?  Not at all.  In fact, faith counted for righteousness results to righteousness.  In Romans 3:31, Christians will fulfill the Law by faith and not make the law void.  No true Christian would ever consider salvation as a license to sin.  In fact when a homosexual receives Jesus, their lifestyle will begin to change from Sodom to the Service to the Lord and Savior.

3.) It can limit itself to just "superficial belief"

It's not enough to "just believe", in fact pisteoun (the Greek used for believe when it comes to salvation) is complete and total reliance.  It's not enough to just superficially believe that there is a God, that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah, that God exists in three Persons, the blood atonement of Jesus or just believe that Jesus saves.  James 2:19 warns that the devils believe and TREMBLE at those facts.  True belief in Christ for salvation is not only acknowledgement of the facts but seeing one has totally depraved, relying on God's unconditional election, taking the limited atonement while its available as there is no atonement for the dead and by trusting Him, Jesus Christ, ALONE for one's salvation.

4.) It also tries to say apostates are saved

There is the demonic doctrine that says, "It's just one moment of faith, just believe once and you are forever saved EVEN IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE AFTERWARDS."  Notice the statement all written in capital letters.  This is totally outrageous.  The reality is a Christian WILL CONTINUE believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and it's not just moment of a sinner's prayer, not just one moment of faith and that's it but rather it will endure to the end by the grace of God.  Authentic faith continues in its practice and fruit bearing which is the TRUE evidence of having eternal security. Eternal security is not just a matter of once saved, always saved- it is evidenced by continuing in the fellowship of God despite the fact a Christian may fall away but never completely and by the grace of God they will endure to the end than live like the rest of the world.  Judas Iscariot then is not saved to start with.  Remember in John 17:12, Jesus mentioned that ALL his disciples were saved except for the "son of perdition" which is Judas Iscariot.  In fact the Bible warns in 1 John 2:19 that those who walked away from the assembly were NOT saved to start with.  In fact it's impossible for a heathen to believe once and continue being a heathen, their true conversion makes them from heathen to Christian and it will continue!
