Using Luke 11:27-28 to Defend Marian Devotion Debunked

Luke 11:27-28 says, "And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But He said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it." (King James version, note that even the Good News and the Douay translation keeps the same meaning)

One of the verses that Roman Catholic faith defenders have used to defend their Marian devotion are Luke 11:27-28 that the people were giving praises to Mary and that this verse is frequently misinterpreted by Baptists and their fellow born again Christian believers to discredit their Marian devotion even when the BIble NOWHERE teaches Mary should even be venerated in that way as to call her names that are only for God alone. If one should truly examine Mary in the Bible, clearly she had also refused to intercede between people and her son in John 2:5 to do whatever Jesus tells them to do. Jesus NEVER for one invited people to Mary for salvation but to Himself. And one has to understand that in John 2:5, Mary clearly wanted people to know she had no role whatsoever between people and her firstborn Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. And that was her only command to do whatever Jesus tells them to do.

One has to really see a deeper meaning beyond that when one reads it properly. Notice the very words of Jesus when He said, "Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the Word of God and KEEP IT." In fact one has to notice it clearly that Jesus although He didn't defame his mother (as many Catholics would FALSELY accuse born again Christians of saying that He disrespected his mother), He simply showed that He showed a more important role than that of his earthly mother, Mary as He was God the Son. As said, they can mean all who hear God's Word and KEEP IT are blessed. Mary the mother of Jesus in His HUMANITY would not be excluded because she was truly blessed for her obedience to the Word of God which was Jesus' reason for rebuking the women for praising His mother in that manner.
