The Apocrypha and Early Catholic "Church Fathers"

It's just very interesting like as it was stated in Charles Chiniquey's testimony that most of the Church "fathers" contradicted each other.  Here's Jerome's argument that says he does not consider it canon:
"As the Church reads the books of Judith and Tobit and Maccabees but does not receive them among the canonical Scriptures, so also it reads Wisdom and Ecclesiasticus for the edification of the people, not for the authoritative confirmation of doctrine."
-Jerome

Others who opposed it:
  • Pope Gregory the Great ((540-604 A.D.)
  • Cardinal Ximenes
  • Cardinal Cajetan

What is PRETTY interesting is this- The members of the Council of Trent ONLY finalized its stand on the Apocrypha in 1546 while their predecessors centuries behind had to argue about their authenticity.  Clearly just another proof of Mark 7:8-13 of rejecting God's Word to keep their own traditions.
