Priestly Celibacy and Playing Around with the Words Doctrine and Discipline

The Catholic Faith Defenders really know how to play words but it results to faulty argument.  They say, "The Catholic Church doesn't teach celibacy as a doctrine but as a discipline therefore your argument from 1 Timothy 4:1-2 is invalid."  Let's just look at the play on words.  My brother-in-Christ Gerry Soliman has had some dialogues with some a Roman Catholic apologist from the U.S. with some rather amusing results.  Even I had to make sure I didn't quarrel with my third cousin who's a very die hard parishioner of a Jesuit parish.

Now it's time to show the definitions of doctrine and discipline to counter the useless arguments:

Doctrine
  1. Teaching, instruction
  2. Something that is taught
  3. A principle or position or the body of principles in a branch of knowledge of system of belief: dogma
  4. Principle of law established through past decisions
  5. A statement of fundamental government policy especially in international relations
  6. A military principle or set of strategies

Discipline
  1. Punishment
  2. Instruction
  3. A field of study
  4. Training that corrects, molds or perfects the mental faculties or moral character
  5. Control gained by enforcing obedience or order
  6. Orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior
  7. Self-control
  8. A rule or systems of rules governing conduct or activity

Looking at it, the Catholic Faith Defenders are JUST playing around with synonyms as antonyms.  A different spelling DOES not automatically change the meaning like annoying and bothersome are just synonyms.  Disciplines come from DOCTRINE and are basically instructions and teachings so in other words, their stand to defend mandatory celibacy for priests is just illogically spinning around.
