All That Chaos During the Black Nazarene Processions!

I was thinking that when I was still a Catholic, I used to be excited about these feasts but at the same time, it disturbed me at how people just can't wait for their turns. Now that I am a born again Christian, I would express the truth that ever since I got saved, it's no surprise that chaos happens because as Matthew 7:16-20 warns that by their fruits you will know them. Remember in Exodus 32 when the golden calf incident broke out? Okay it may not be as messy to the point it became a drunken orgy but the chaos is very real. Just this 2014, over 50 got hurt during the procession or at least, known to be hurt. In fact back when in the year 2000, one incident had it when an image of the Black Nazarene fell down, people rushed to pick up the broken parts to get the miraculous power the statue said holds. In fact, people want to touch the graven image hoping to receive forgiveness and healing.

Now here is the huge problem. Catholics say that what they are doing is Biblical comparing it to the procession to the River Jordan during the conquest of Jericho. What they fail to read in Joshua 3 is that the Ark of the Covenant was to be at least one kilometer away from the Israelites that were following it. When the Ark was being paraded later in 2 Samuel 6, nobody was to touch it. Uzzah one of the priests who touched it died the instant he did. In fact, nobody ever bowed down to the Ark of the Covenant when it passed. Touching the Ark meant instant death and it was hidden in the Holy of Holies whenever it was in the tent or temple, nobody was to see it. It was covered and nobody ever bowed down to it which the argument falls down flat. For the bronze serpent argument in Numbers 21:4-9 just do note that later, King Hezekiah got rid of the bronze serpent when people started to worship it. Also, people were just said to look at the bronze serpent, nothing more. People here are doing more than that, they are actually worshiping it but denying it.

Another problem is they say also it isn't idolatry. As always, it has already become the old argument of Catholicism or many religions that they don't worship the image but the one portrayed by the image. Just like a Buddhist who said he doesn't worship the image of Buddha but Buddha himself. In fact, the problem is also with Exodus 20:4-5 which is frequently omitted from the Catholic catechism that nobody is to even bow down to them. When we think about this one, what makes this practice wrong is not because pagans also parade the images of their gods around but Isaiah 42:8 says that God will not share His glory with another much less with graven images. Jeremiah 10:3-5 declares that these idols need to be carried because they cannot walk. In fact, any "reverence" here shown is nothing more than an act of idolatry no matter how many spin the bush arguments they do.
