Handling Christians' Objections Towards the Death Penalty

I remembered having some trouble with my views on the death penalty with Roman Catholics. What should have surprised me or not is that some Christians who are truly saved do object to the death penalty? They have various reasons which I will address. Part of being a Christian means correcting one's brethren of their mistakes.  Objection #1: The death penalty is Old Testament law Some Christians think that the death penalty is just an Old Testament law that got repealed in the New Testament. This is a problem when they fail to study their Bible properly. While they have gotten their soteriology right, they question the conversion of people who claim to be Christians but evidence suggests otherwise but they are against the death penalty. They say that the death penalty may belong to the ceremonial law. They may think that Jesus abolished the death penalty in John 8:1-11. But do they know the context? The problem is not the death penalty. The Pharisees should have brought the

The Hypocrisy of Some Roman Catholics Who Compare Born Again Christianity With Islam

It's absurd that some Catholic Faith Defenders have gone as far as to compare Islam with born again Christianity. Some Roman Catholic sites have gone as far as to call Islam as a form of Protestantism. That alone is pretty much absurd.  To claim Islam is a form of Protestantism shoots itself at the foot. To say that Islam is a form of Protestantism is a chronological error. This should be a problem. Martin Luther could have not met Muhammad considering the incredible time jump between them. Muhammad came centuries before Luther. If Luther founder Protestantism then how can Islam be a a Protestant denomination?  What these people are ignoring is the huge difference between born again Christianity and Islam. Showing the differences would show how comparing the doctrine on both sides to actually show the stupidity of the argument. Here are the big differences and where hypocrisies are exposed because these can't be reconciled to each other: Born again Christians believ

Refuting the Doctrine That Priests Save Souls

Image
The Roman Catholic teaching is that, "Priests save souls." Here's what's being taught by Catholic priests. How are these priests said to save souls? To understand the heresy that "priests save souls" is to understand the connection between the sacraments and the priesthood. Only the priest can administer the sacraments which Roman Catholics are taught would be necessary for salvation. This is different than the born again Christian view that the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's supper are there for the sanctification of the believer. Salvation precedes sanctification not the other way around (Ephesians 2:10, 1 Corinthians 9:11, Titus 2:11-14). Here's what " Salvation and the Sacraments " from Berean Beacon has to say which I quote in part. I encourage you to read the whole article for further understanding: Quite a number of people have become Roman Catholics because of the appeal of the Catholic Sacraments. It is necessary the

Be Careful of Pseudo-Knowledge Promoted by Intellectually Dishonest People

The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy giving this warning about intellectual dishonesty: 1 Timothy 6:20  O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: This is the problem in the world of apologetics today. It's very easy to get mislead by a lot of science falsely so-called. This is all about pseudo-knowledge and dangerous it is to people. Here are a few of the many phrases that can be misused and abused by pseudo-intellectuals tend to use or love to use to spread their lies: I'm sure... (insert half-truth/s) Studies show that... (insert half-truth/s) There is overwhelming evidence/no evidence... (insert half-truth/s) Study history... (insert half-truth/s) It wasn't until (insert time period) that the doctrine of (insert doctrine) was developed Everybody knows that... (insert half-truth/s) Which in turn, one can see how these pseudo-intellectuals tend to be contradictory

A War on Narcotics Without Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ Is Meaningless

If certain angry heathens can get mad at drugs then it's stupid to claim you're a Christian but you think drug addiction isn't a problem. You can't say you're a Christian and think you can't be delivered from your sinfulness or have no change. If you're truly a Christian you will hate sin because God hates it. Addiction to narcotics and the existence of narcotics are among the worst disasters that happened ever since sin cursed the world. It's good to have a war against narcotics but it's meaningless if there's no preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people. The purpose of having laws The Law was created not because people are basically good but because people are evil. But here's the problem: man is not basically good. The Law is created to tell people the difference between right and wrong. It's created to keep society in order. 1 Timothy 1:9-10  Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the

Political Correctness is a Sign of the Last Days

It should be no surprise to the Christian that political correctness is already making itself more prominent than it already has before. Just think of what the Bible says about the last days: 2 Timothy 3:1-7  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:2-4  That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us t

The Ultimate Irony When Catholic Faith Defenders End Up Refuting Themselves Whenever They End Up Mentioning Scriptural Truths

In the world of defense of the Christian faith the falsehood will ultimately refute itself. One such case is the Roman Catholic institution. Some Catholic faith defenders end up defeating themselves when they make contradictory arguments. I could give some examples: The Catholic faith defender says that there's no salvation outside the Roman Catholic Church. They say that salvation only belongs to those who are members of the Roman Catholic institution. When they say that nobody gets saved in the fellowship of the pastor and in giving tithes and offerings, they end up refuting themselves when they say that when they affirm the following which born again Christians teach: Jesus is the ultimate authority and not the pastor. When they end up saying that only Jesus saves. Hmmm that begs the question why didn't they mention Mary co-saves? When they tell the people to read the Bible and you can't go wrong. Such arguments can be very confusing. Let's consider th

The INC's Favorite False Dichotomy Argument Against the Biblical Doctrine of the Trinity

Image
It's already a common fallacy used by the anti-Trinitarian cults to say something like, "Show me a verse in the Bible that God is a Trinity." or "The word Trinity is not in the Bible." This is the fallacy of false dichotomy where you restrict the opponent to just a few alternatives or none when there are more alternatives. This is the problem that the Iglesia Ni Cristo shows whenever they demand that their opponents should show them a verse that says God is a Trinity word for word. This is where they fall down. Do they realize that word usage evolves overtime? The King James Version Bible has the word Godhead which is synonymous for Trinity? Acts 17:29, Roman 1:20 and Colossians 2:9 all mention the word "Godhead" in the KJV translation. What they may be ignoring is that even the modern versions (which I reject to be unreliable due to missing verses) still uphold the Trinity one way or another. Another verse that's widely missing or heavily

Appealing to the Old Testament Whenever It's Convenient

It's very easy to say, "But that's just Old Testament." to dismiss stuff that aren't convenient for anyone. Cults can say that this and that are irrelevant because they are found in the Old Testament. What they are ignoring is that you can't understand the New Testament without the Old Testament or that the Old Testament contains the moral laws and the ceremonial laws. Here are a few stuff that people tend to dismiss because it's found in the Old Testament: Death penalty for crimes against life. Spanking your children as a form of discipline. Forbidding the use of images for worship. However, they're guilty of double standard whenever they appeal to the Old Testament. Here are a few examples of doing so: Some self-proclaimed last messengers appeal to the Old Testament to justify their sexually licentious lifestyle. Some of the worst offenders are Joseph Smith and Felix Manalo to justify their adulteries. Joseph Smith is said to have 64 mi

The Incredible Irony that the Iglesia Ni Cristo Condemns Itself

Image
Here is a picture from South Dakota Apologetics  which shows a page from the what could be a manual of the Iglesia Ni Cristo religion. What should be disturbing is that the Q and A shown above reveals the fall of the INC with their cult: The INC conveniently ignores that the Bible is finished as the Book of Revelation is already finished (Revelaton 22:18-21). We only need pastors and there are no more prophets and apostles. The work of the apostle continues but not the signs and wonders.  The INC ministers believe that they were sent to study and interpret God's Word but they are always taking things out of context. They are now condemning themselves when they say that those who are self-proclaimed will be put to destruction when in fact these guys are just self-proclaimed.   It should be interesting that Dr. James R. White has a vast knowledge. If Joe Ventilacion really knew the Greek then he would see through the doctrines of the INC. This is where it gets reall
