Raising Soulwinning Awareness This Fire Prevention Month

March is Fire Prevention Month but there's one question worth asking, "Is soulwinning being done to people who are in the danger of eternal Hell?" It's very discouraging to go soulwinning because not everyone will be saved. But here's one truth that you can take comfort on - you can't win everyone but you can warn everyone! Hmmm maybe we should call it going soul-warning as well since not everyone will be won?

Leonard Ravenhill would have a quote to go with this, "Could a fireman sit idle, let men burn and give ho hand?" While salvation itself isn't just eternal insurance from Hell but we can't deny we should tell people about Hell. Warning people about sin wouldn't make sense if the wicked will just get annihilated after death. Warning people about Hell makes way more sense if people are going to suffer in the Lake of Fire. Hell is real, hot and painful and the only cold comfort that a moral but unsaved person gets is a cooler Hell - but even the most worldly righteous will get no airconditioned suits or even an electric fanned room in Hell! They will get less punishment but it would be better to be in the lowest Heaven than in the highest Hell!

There is a description of Hell as done by many great preachers that it's also playing with fire. Proverbs 6:27 warns that you can't play with fire and not get burned. The bigger problem that lost sinners playing with fire have is that it may be fun at first but the consequences will not be fun. Worse, they have rejected true salvation many times because once a person receives Jesus as their Savior - He will be their Lord and they will love Him over sin. Many people hate the idea of a Savior from sin and Hell but they will embrace another Jesus that's only a Savior from Hell but not from sin.

So how can fire prevention month be a soulwinning opportunity? I think it would be good to talk about the importance of fire prevention month and the flames of Hell. A good illustration is that the Church is not just a hospital for repentant sinners, a museum of forgiven sinners and an army of righteous saints who were once sinners - it's also a firestation that seeks to warn men to leave the fire. Not everyone caught in the fire is willing to be rescued but if nobody is willing to rescue then who will rescue those willing to be rescued? That's why soulwinning is of utmost importance all-year round!
