The Rosary: Is it Biblical?

Here's another issue worth throwing this Reformation month which also happens to be the Rosary month. Okay, again, this ministry does not mean to be unkind to Roman Catholics (or their opponents who teach another gospel like the Mormons, Pentecostals, INC, and Jehovah's Witnesses) but we are here to present the truth one Scripture at a time. We are not a conspiracy theory website, we are focused on soulwinning people. Many people are also relying on the Rosary hoping to gain their salvation when it does not. Friend, only Jesus can save you, not prayers, not works, not rituals, only by trusting in Him. It only takes faith in Christ to get saved, people make it from difficult to impossible for themselves that's why it's very hard to believe in the Gospel.

Now it's time to really examine the Rosary. How is the Rosary done? Here are the steps:
  • Beginning with the Rosary's Cross: Begin as with all prayers In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. (making the sign of the Cross while doing that).
  • On the single bead just above the cross, pray the Apostles Creed. This and all prayers of the rosary are meditative prayers.
  • The next cluster of beads are 3 beads, the "Hail Mary" prayer is said on these three beads. You pray the 3 Hail Marys while meditating on the three divine virtues of faith, hope, and love/charity.
  • On the next bead, which is a single bead, you announce the first divine mystery of contemplation. For example, if it were a Monday, you would say the first Joyful Mystery is "The Annunciation", at this point you pray the "Our Father" prayer.
  • Now this will bring you to the first decade, or set of 10 beads of the Rosary. You will then pray 10 Hail Marys while contemplating the first mystery, for example: The Annunciation.
  • After the 10th Hail Mary, you will have completed the first of 5 decades which make up a Chaplet of the Rosary. You now come to another single bead, at this point, you pray the... Glory be to the Father... then (on the same bead) pray the O My Jesus... then (on the same bead) announce the next or second mystery. For example: if its Monday and you're praying the Joyful Mysteries, the second Joyful Mystery is The Visitation. At this point, you pray the Our Father....
  • You will now come to the second decade or group of 10 beads, you will now pray the 10 Hail Marys while contemplating the appropriate mystery.
  • You continue to pray the rosary the same way throughout. If your intention is to pray a Chaplet (a single set of mysteries) at the end of the fifth mystery you will come back to the joiner, this is where the decades all join with the lower part of the rosary which contains the cross. When you come to the joiner, you decide whether or not you wish to say another Chaplet or end. If you decide to say another Chaplet you simply announce the next mystery and continue. If you wish to end, you simply say the Glory Be To The Father, the O My Jesus, The Our Father and end the rosary with the Hail Holy Queen and the sign of the Cross.

In contrast to the claim that it is a "tour of Jesus' life" according to the devotees, it isn't. Ask any former Catholic or its direct offshoots like the Orthodox church who's now a born again Christian. It's nothing but the vain repetition that makes people sound like broken tape recorders. The Bible is clear in the following about prayer. Matthew 6:7 has Jesus warning that not to use vain repetitions. The Good News Bible says "meaningless words". Words can lose meaning when they are in a broken record. It becomes meaningless to pray for bread when a person is about to die. It becomes meaningless to give worship to one who does not deserve it. Roman Catholics really can't tell the difference between repeating a request thrice vs. to pray the same prayer all over again like a broken record.

Imagine praying a total of 53 Hail Marys. That just gives devotion to Mary above God. In the Marian doctrine, Mary gets exalted, prayed to (as evidenced by the prayer booklets to her) and give titles that only God the Father and Jesus Christ should have.

Now it's time to see through the fifteen false promises. Again, if you're going to get offended, leave. I am not forcing you to believe this if you find it to be a bunch of trash. Sad to say so many Roman Catholics die daily going to Hell trusting in the Rosary rather than the precious Lord and Savior who died for them. They have to go through Mary, through the saints rather than respond to Christ's direct invitation. Now on to the fifteen promises and why they are not true based on Scriptures:

First promise: To all those who shall pray my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and great graces.
  • Answer: Truth is, there is really no special protection and great graces in a bunch of dead prayers. Dead repetition is never said heartily. Also if the Rosary belongs to Mary, where is God in the picture? Besides, some people who pray the Rosary do get accidents too. There is nowhere in Scripture that the apostles prayed the Rosary direct or indirect compared to the bunch of imaginative (and sinful) thinking of some Catholic apologists.

Second promise: Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary will receive some special grace.
  • Answer: As said, grace is something that is NEVER earned or kept by persevering, rather it makes a person persevere as a result. Ephesians 2:8-10 and Titus 2:11-15 is clear that grace is not earned and perseverance is a result of grace, not the other way around. There is nothing man can do to earn grace, it's something that is undeserved yet given. If salvation cannot be lost then persevering to the end can't be lost even if a Christian may stumble, God picks them up and punishes them to get them back on track (Hebrews 12:5-6).

Third promise: The rosary will be a very powerful armor against hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin, and dispel heresy.
  • Answer: Again, this is another lie that will cause people to dearly. The only real protection against Hell, the only thing that washes away sin and dispels heresy is the blood of Jesus! The Bible is clear in Hebrews 9:12-22 that the blood of Jesus which He shed in His death washes away sin, purges the conscience from dead works, and changes the person to SERVE the living God. John 6:37-40 is clear that Jesus accepts whoever comes to Him and He will no wise cast them out. Besides, the rosary in itself is already a heresy in itself. Also, many people (not all) who constantly recite the rosary are actually corrupt politicians, drug lords, kidnappers, porn stars, hold-uppers and the like. Try to check out the corruption in the Philippine government as many corrupt politicians faithful to the cause of Rome are very faithful in praying the rosary. Their lives show they are not delivered from sin.

Fourth promise: The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
  • Answer: Again, this is pretty much a big lie. Many people who accuse the eternal security crowd to be poisonous, lethal, and giving a license to sin are actually living as if they have a license to sin. They are braggarts and many are highly chaotic individuals and liars who accuse others of being liars. As said, this ministry cares less who they are- only care about whether or not they will get saved.

Fifth promise:Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary will not perish.
  • Answer: The Bible is clear in John 14:6 (which Catholics claim they believe it when they don't by their actions and words) that Jesus is the only way to the Father- not good works, not religion, not church membership, not water baptism, not by self-crucifixion- only Jesus. John 3:16-18 is clear that it's only Jesus, not any other. Believe or PERISH! In fact, the perishing is already evident by the sinful lifestyles many people live today!

Sixth promise:Whoever recites my Rosary devoutly reflecting on the mysteries, shall never be overwhelmed by misfortune. He will not experience the anger of God nor will he perish by an unprovided death. The sinner will be converted; the just will persevere in grace and merit eternal life.
  • Answer: Again, this is works-based salvation because graces are never earned but given so the person may endure trials and in a way, it's also a prosperity gospel heresy. It's not surprising that Benny Hinn and other prosperity based teachers are in bed in the Vatican while several apologists LIE to the world that isn't true. When Jesus offered salvation, He did not offer a life of comfort and ease- He kept warning His followers ABOUT overwhelming misfortunes in the Christian life like persecution from the world, disowning by one's own family or even a horrible death. The Book of Acts is clear that the Apostles were not spared from overwhelming misfortune and their writings are clear that the godly are to suffer persecution. Preachers like John F. MacArthur, Harry Allen Ironside, Paul Washer, and Ray Comfort were indeed right when they issued the fact that God's free gift of salvation is not a promise of deliverance from the problems of this world, no it's a deliverance from sin if you repent (be sorry) of them making the person turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness. As said, salvation is for those who receive it, not those who reject it! It's NOT the Rosary that converts- it's God's Law (Psalm 19:7).

Seventh promise: Those truly devoted to my Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
  • Answer: The word sacrament is nothing more than standing for SYMBOLIC. Baptism and the Lord's supper were the only two sacraments or ordinances given in the Bible, nothing more. Sacraments do not bestow any grace of salvation. The Lord's supper is not the literal body and blood of Christ and baptism is only for the saved. Some people are devoted to the Rosary but die without sacraments.

Eighth promise: Those who are faithful to recite my Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces and will share in the merits of the blessed.
  • Answer: Again this is works salvation.

Ninth promise:I will deliver promptly from purgatory souls devoted to my Rosary.
  • Answer: Hebrews 9:27 is clear with this, "As it is appointed unto man ONCE to die but after this the judgment." No temporal place. In fact, the rich man died and WENT TO HELL NOT PURGATORY! The idea of Purgatory is nothing more than a gold mine for paganism as people would pay plenty of money for masses that do not work.

Tenth promise:True children of my Rosary will enjoy great glory in heaven.
  • Answer: Again, what part of John 14:6 do they not understand? As said, it's another play on words on the issue of the "sin of presumption" that nobody can know they can have eternal life. However the Bible is clear in 1 John 5:13 men can be SURE. Evidence will show of men who are sure of Heaven- changed lifestyle, hatred for sin (and sinning makes them unhappy), and by their good works.

Eleventh promise: What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain.
  • Answer: What about the words of Jesus in John 14:13 saying, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in My Name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son."

Twelfth promise: To those who propagate my Rosary I promise aid in all their necessities.
  • Answer: What about Matthew 6:33 that says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness? Again prayer is done in the name of Jesus Christ and not in the name of Jesus Christ with the intercession through Mary!

Thirteenth promise: I have obtained from my Son that all the members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have as their intercessors, in life and in death, the entire celestial court.
  • Answer: 1 Timothy 2:5 is clear saying, "For there is ONE MEDIATOR between God and man and that is the man, Christ Jesus." Men meditate for each other but NEVER between God and man when it comes to the issue of salvation. Hebrews 7:25 taken in context is clear about this- it's Jesus who grants intercession. John 2:5 has Mary clearly saying, "Do whatever He tells you." Mary in the reality if read through Scripture PROPERLY wanted people to see she could not intercede between her earthly firstborn son, Jesus the Son of God and them. Instead, she invited people to Him knowing she was a sinner who needed the Savior.

Fourteenth promise: Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are my beloved children, the brothers, and sisters of Jesus Christ.
  • Answer: Now here's another reality to face. People do not become children of God by their works but it is by their faith which will result to works. John 1:10-12 is clear that becoming a child of God is by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. John 8:44 is clear that NOT ALL are God's children. As said by Estus Pirkle, "Anybody who preaches we are all God's children is dead wrong. The only way to the Father is by the Lord Jesus Christ."

Fifteenth promise: Devotion to my Rosary is a special sign of predestination.
  • Answer: Again, there's not much to say about this. As said, only people who receive the Lord Jesus Christ are predestined, not those who try to work their way to Heaven (Romans 8:29-30). Trusting in anything or anybody but the Lord Jesus Christ is a sure road to Hellfire.

As said, people will always hate reading what this ministry does. There will be bound to be gossip, persecution and so on. That's why our comments are OFF. The only sincere prayer that the contributors and their friends is that there will be more people saved from the shackles of religion to freedom in Christ Jesus. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ results to a life of good works and church attendance not the other way around!
