Addressing a Poor State of Born Again Christian Apologetics

It is very easy to nitpick on the sins of the Roman Catholic priests but you may be ignoring some pastors deserve to be criticized as well. Likewise, it is very easy to nitpick on Catholic Faith Defenders without realizing that there are born again Christian apologists regardless of denomination (and many of them belong to the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement) who are really in a poor state of apologetic ministries.

It is time to really start listing some common problems of a poor state of born again Christian apologetics that stoops them down to the level of their opponents:

Ad Hominem. If Catholic faith defenders are so fond of attacking the person instead of the argument, some born again Christian apologists are also so found of doing that. It is very possible to start attacking Catholic faith defenders based on who they are instead of what they argue whether it is sensible or not.

Conspiracy theory approach. Another problem why so many born again Christians are making Roman Catholics too angry to listen to them is they cite from conspiracy theory materials. While I do believe a lot of the claims done by Chick Publications but that is not the Gospel. You can go ahead and inform everyone of the Vatican's deepest darkest secrets and never get anyone saved. What people need to hear is the Gospel and their sad state as sinners, not about those deep dark secrets that may not even be real.

Guilt by association. Like it or not, many Christian apologists can be guilty of this one. Sometimes, we end up arguing by guilt by association instead of using the Bible as a measure of right and wrong. Some of the dumbest arguments exist in conspiracy theory sites like associating lightning bolt signs with Zeus, LOL with Lucifer Our Lord, hand signals that so and so is an Illuminati without doing any proper research (which also goes back to Ad Hominem) or just saying that so and so does it so it is a pagan practice. What is ignored is that Christians and non-Christians also do similar activities. Just because a Roman Catholic priest held a sports gathering does not make it wrong for a pastor to hold a sports gathering. If you are going to measure right and wrong then use the Bible's standards for right and wrong.

Hasty generalization. This is when a person decides to jump into a conclusion that what is true for one is true for all. It is very easy to get angry at Catholic faith defenders who use pastors who deserve to be criticized for their actions to generalize born again Christians yet many born again Christian apologists also use priestly scandals of Rome to generalize Roman Catholics. This also may apply to how it is very easy to conclude all Muslims are terrorists because of Islamic terrorists like the ISIS.

Missing the point. It is a problem that many Catholic faith defenders are people who miss the point and many of them are controlled by their emotions. What I do not dare deny is that some born again Christian apologists also keep missing the point as well. This is because of cherry picking, getting emotional and not examining the posts in context. The more I look at many Catholic vs. born again Christian debates, the more I am convinced to stay out of them. Many of them just keep missing the point that it is either funny or irritating.

Not researching on allegations found on the Internet. It is very easy to be absorbed with a list of allegations. Some "truth agents" are just clowns (not necessarily Jesuit agents) who love to smear good people for fun and/or smear other people for personal revenge. What is so stupid is that many people can be easily misled. Some of them are just smear used to exaggerate a situation like one may be misled into believing this and that without any proof. What is so stupid is that many people is that people think that as long as it is in the Internet then it must be true. If the libraries can have wrong information then how much more the Internet?

Sensationalizing stuff. Catholic faith defenders have their bad habit of sensationalizing quack pastors and their misdeeds. Some born again Christians tend to sensationalize the scandals of Catholic priests. It is easy to see Catholic faith defenders have their mentality of covering up their priests' scandals but to sensationalize such events is already stooping down to the level of the opponent.

Taking verses out of context. It is possible to keep laughing at Catholic faith defenders for taking verses out of context but what if you are taking verses out of context as well. One of the worst examples has to be Steven Anderson's "Pisseth Against the Wall" sermon where he misquoted six verses to justify his doctrine that men must pee standing up or the nation faces judgment. It is no better than Catholic Faith Defenders who have already misquoted plenty of verses to justify the papacy's error or Mary granting intercession.

Use of inappropriate language. Even if Christians are not going to love the cesspool of sin but they can easily fall into sin when they are in pride or self-reliant. It is really sad to think some born again Christians can end up using a lot of inappropriate language. It is a shame really to observe how some born again Christians really end up using a lot of inappropriate language. Some of them exist with name-calling and cursing making witnessing even more difficult. Although Christians may not take delight in doing this but they can get stuck up for a certain period of time doing this.
