Why Do Unbelievers Love to Take Scriptures Out of Context?

It's frustrating that no matter how many times anyone can show the Scripture to the unbeliever, no matter how good the exposition is done but they still refuse to believe it. So what's the reason behind such frustration?
1 Corinthians 2:14
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

This is the reality that we have to realize. Unsaved people can't understand the Bible because they receive not the things of God. Here's how it gets so irritating - Scripture is clearer than day but the error persists. It doesn't matter how bright the sun is but if the person is blind then he can't see the truth. This is the case of spiritual blindness and spiritual denial - the truth is clear but the hardened heart cannot savingly believe for salvation because it refuses to.I could talk about a couple of verses that are too obvious in themselves yet people still insist in their heresy.

You can take a look at his obvious misinterpretation above. We can use basic grammar and you can see that Jesus is telling Peter that upon this Rock and not upon you that the Church will be built. But what do Roman Catholics do? They still insist that Peter is the Rock even if 1 Corinthians 10:4 even in several Roman Catholic translations say that the Rock is Christ. The Good News Translation (GNT) even makes a distinction between Peter a rock and the Rock. There's a big difference yet they foolishly made that chart above.

Ephesians 4:11 does not make mention of any priest and I showed the GNT's rendition to a self-proclaimed Catholic apologist (who presumably had no real formal training unless he had it from Abraham Arganiosa who uses unprofessional tactics) but what did he do? Instead of acknowledging his fault he called me a servant of Satan and that my pastors are all just self-proclaimed. He always had his motto that as long as people call themselves born again Christians then they must be very stupid and all arguments are invalid because the Roman Catholic institution said so.

The pattern goes similar to other cults. I remembered reading a couple of Jehovah's Witness magazines, Iglesia ni Cristo magazines and Mormon magazines and I noticed how many Scriptures are clearly taken out of context. When it came to the doctrine of annihilation I even wonder did the Jehovah's Witness followers even read Revelation 14:11 where it says the damned are forever tortured in the Lake of Fire. I read through the INC publications and did they even ignore John 1:1-3 that shows Jesus is indeed God? It reminded me of how INC apologist Ian Ventilacion ended up refuting himself by quoting 2 Philippians 5:5-7 from the New Living Translation. Even if I'm a KJV Onlyist but that verse caused the INC apologist to refute himself.

Ephesians 2:8-10 is already more than enough to blast Antinomians and works salvationists yet both pervert it. We have Antinomians who think that Ephesians 2:8-9 is a license to sin while ignoring verse 10. They think that one can get saved and never change - never mind that Titus 2:11-14 and James 2 shows to use that God's grace changes lives. We have works salvationists who believe that Ephesians 2:10 that salvation is faith plus works. If works were required for salvation then Ephesians 2:8-9 is a lie. Worse, they even misread James 2 never mind that James 2:10-11 shows that you can't keep the whole Law or that James was talking about what real faith is and not that works are needed for salvation.

What part of Matthew 24:36 don't the doomsday prophets understand? I remembered how often the Jehovah's Witnesses kept printing end of the world literature and it still didn't come. They placed some Scriptures during the planetary alignment and yet not one verse supported their absurd claim. The same went for Harold Camping and those who believed in the Mayan Calendar's end date. I even want to feel like joking that maybe we all read the Mayan Calendar wrong. Maybe it ended on December 15, 2013 and not December 21, 2012 - the date of Camping's death. These people ignore the obvious because it's only obvious to those who are saved but not to the lost.

With this in mind, it's best to be patient with people who are lost in sin with their ignorance of the Scriptures. Do you remember the scenario when Paul had scales in his eyes in Acts 9:18? That's the problem of unbelievers. They are so blinded that obvious truth is something they don't want to have. They may be able to see physically but they are blinded spiritually. It takes a lot of patience to handle these people who are blinded to the truth. Only God can open their eyes. All the Christian can do is warn others.
