Many Jewish People Still Reject Jesus as Their Passover Lamb

The New Testament fulfills the Old Testament! All the prophecies concerning Jesus are already given out. They can check all the Old Testament Scriptures to see that Jesus indeed fulfilled it all in the New Testament. They have been reading all of the Old Testament throughout their lives and guess what - they still have not gotten it that Jesus is the Passover Lamb! It's really so sad that today is Good Friday (and the first Day of Passover 2019) but Jews still continue celebrating Passover hoping for the Messiah to arrive - when He has already arrived! The worst part is that when they have a messiah that they think that they are looking for - they can only expect to be very disappointed when the Antichrist arrives and desecrates the Third Temple. He will be like a friend to them but he like Judas Iscariot will betray them!

The Old Testament does point to Jesus whether they like it or not. Genesis 3:15 and Isaiah 7:14 point to the virgin birth. To be a virgin means one who hasn't gotten involved with sexual intercourse. Yet, some people today continue to attack the virgin birth of Christ claiming that Mary supposedly committed adultery with a Roman soldier or some random guy. The Old Testament also has had the appearances of Jesus in a theophany such as when He appeared before Abraham (Genesis 18), He appeared as the Captain of the LORD's host whom Joshua worshiped (Joshua 5:13-15) and many times this special Angel (angel means messenger) of the LORD appeared - it was no ordinary angel but the Son of God appearing as that special Messenger who would do what only God can do. Isaiah 53 already described the suffering of Jesus as a sin sacrifice. The Psalms point to Jesus. Yet why are the Jews still that hardheaded? Why do they continue to reject Jesus as the Messiah of the world? It's because they had selfish expectations of someone who would liberate them from the Romans. Some even suggest that the Jews want a kingdom only for them but Jesus came to save everyone - Jews and Gentiles alike!

It's simple - the unsaved person is ignorant of Scripture and the unsaved Jew is not any different. There's that marvelous blindness that came unto them. They already saw Jesus do the miracles but they still reject Him. The Pharaoh of the Exodus saw all the miracles from Exodus 7-12 and guess what - he still hardened his heart as God allowed it. Israel today still has a population that takes what God does for it for granted. Imagine, God has protected it for many generations yet many Jews ungratefully spit at His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. It's really sad how the Passover was already fulfilled in Jesus yet they continue to celebrate it waiting for the Messiah. They are still suffering from the same sin cycles in the Book of Judges. They are still continuing to do what is right in their own eyes.

The purpose of the book of Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians who were persecuted. You do remember the 3,000 Jews that were converted in Acts 2? Peter a Jewish Christian spoke to his fellow Jews and convicted them of joining the shenanigans that got Jesus crucified. Christianity spread like fire and the Pharisees were upset at it. Paul of Tarsus a devoted Jewish religious leader wanted to wipe it out only for Jesus to elect him as a missionary to the Gentiles. Paul would later write in the first three verses of Romans 10 saying that the Jews are ignorant of the righteousness of God and how he wishes they will get to know it. I guess one of Paul's disciples wrote the anonymous letter to the Hebrews in order to encourage Jewish Christians who were persecuted for their faith. They were still relying on their own righteousness but bad news - all the morality they have will not get them closer into Heaven and it will still send them to Hell. Unfair? But God's standard is way higher than man's and it took only one sin to get Adam and Eve kicked out of Eden!

This Passover the big question is to all Jew and Gentile alike will always be, "Is Jesus your Passover or will He be your judge?" For me, He's my Passover. The moment I received Him as my Lord and Savior - I am in that saving relationship now. Jesus is the eternal Son of God and He always will be. Let Him be your Lord and Savior and He will save you from your sins!
