A Biblical Perspective on Rape and Why Women Need to Dress Modestly

There's no denying that rape is indeed a serious offense. I'm not going to deny the gravity of rape as a crime and why it should be punishable. The Old Testament law even has laws to put the rapist to death in Deuteronomy 22:23-27. Also, it's a mistake to think that Deuteronomy 22:28-29 says that a woman must marry her rapist if she isn't betrothed to any man. The father is ultimately in authority over her and can refuse the rapist. Worse, the rapist if he has done any damage to life then he could be charged according to the eye for eye and tooth for tooth law. Today, rape can carry up to the death penalty regarding the severity of the offense. However, there is the rising campaign of women called "My Body, My Rights". Women becoming victims of sexual violence by men is not a joke. Just because a husband has rule over his wife doesn't mean marital rape is okay. Just because a man has authority over a woman that the former can ask the latter for illicit s...

Say Yes to Proverbs 5 Sex Education, Say No to Worldly Sex Education

While doing some reading through Proverbs 5 yesterday and I found the late J. Vernon McGee's heading for this chapter to be rather interesting. It was called, "God's Sex Education". It is amazing how the whole chapter reveals what's wrong with the worldly sex education system. I remembered disliking the term sex education because of the negative connotations along with it. Sex is a wonderful thing in God's boundaries but a horrible thing when it steps outside God's boundaries. Sexual intercourse was designed for human beings. However, it only becomes evil when people decide to engage in sexual perversion. Why am I opposed to secular sex education? I remembered in the video "If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do?" by Estus Pirke (unfortunately, said video had the late pervert Jack Hyles in it) discussed about the fall of the public education system. How often are children taught about the erotic zones of pleasure? One way or another - people ...

Teachers Are Called to be Mentors, Not Tormentors

Image
There's no doubt that the Bible places the importance of teachers in the Christian life. The pastor is a teacher and preacher of the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 12:28 says that first there were apostles, second there are prophets, and third, there are teachers. Ephesians 4:11 includes both the office of a preacher and a teacher. You can't deny that teaching has an important part in the Christian life. However, do you know that some teachers today are actually not doing their job as they should? They're becoming tormentors instead of mentors! 1 Peter 5:3 discourages the idea that pastors and teachers should be tormentors. It says that authorities must not be lording over the flock but to be ensamples or an example towards their students. God's purpose in giving the Law is not only to show us our sin but to also protect us. Authority like freedom can be misused and abused by anyone. If you've got people who hate to follow rules then you have people who act like th...

Not Becoming Like the World in Order to Reach the World for Christ

I remembered reading the book "Hard to Believe" by John F. MacArthur where it presents the hard truths about the Gospel. Why is the Gospel unpopular? Just reading Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 reveal hard truths that can't be easily swallowed. The idea that the sinless Son of God our Lord Jesus Christ would die for man's sins by crucifixion is repugnant for both Jews and Gentiles. The very word "cross" from what I heard was even a taboo word. People who were crucified were considered to be the lowest of the low. The idea that an innocent man how much more the sinless Son of God would allow Himself to be crucified was a baffling idea. The very idea that He died because mankind isn't basically good is even worse. The very message of Christ on the cross and conquering it because you're a lost sinner is abhorrent. It's because people tend to believe that they're basically good or that they're good for Heaven. The Bible as the Book of the Law crush...

Communists Are Seeking to Infiltrate and Destroy Christian Education

Communism isn't always obvious about its motives. It's like the Rider of the White Horse in Revelation - it comes in peace but it doesn't. Daniel 8:25 warns that the Antichrist will destroy not by war but by false peace. A false sense of peace has been one of the most obvious weapons of the communist revolution. People want peace while they reject the true Prince of Peace - the Lord Jesus Christ. They have invaded many areas of life such as education and the media. They have a hold on public schools. Some Roman Catholic schools have become breeding ground for communist parties too. Some of the best Communist masterminds graduated from prestigious Roman Catholic universities aside from those who graduated from high-standard government-owned universities. However, they know that there's still Christian education as a huge stumbling block. Communists are never the type to go down without a fight! How can they seek to destroy Christian education? The methods would involve...

Political Correctness is Doing More Harm Than Good to Children

Image
Happy Children's Day 2019! A good topic to write about today is how political correctness is actually doing more to hurt than help children. Political correctness is defined as, "the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes , of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against." Doesn't it make you wonder why the United States of America (USA) has become a nation of thin-skinned people? Now, let's discuss how political correctness is indeed and will indeed do more hurt than help our children! There's the truth that says trying to please everyone is often is a surefire recipe to failure and that you just can't please everyone. Unfortunately, political correctness is really on that road. There are many people today protected by the politically correct agenda. While the oppression of minorities, because they are minorities (such as ethnic mi...

The Challenge of Christian Education in the Laodicean Church Age

It's no doubt that this is the final church age. We've had passed through the six other church stages namely Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, and Philadelphia. This would be the Laodicean church age where Jesus warned vehemently against false converts. Revelation 3:14-20  14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and ...

The Role of Teachers in the Christian Education System

Image
There's a saying that a pastor is both a teacher and preacher of the Word of God. Yet, the Bible mentions of teachers and pastors as two separate offices in Ephesians 4:11. 1 Corinthians 12:28 that God first sent apostles, secondarily prophets and third teachers to help handle the Church. The pastor is there to teach and preach the Word of God. However, the pastor is not alone in being a teacher in carrying that task. The Bible in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 that a bishop (pastor) should be the husband of one wife - the woman can't be a husband and a man can't be a wife. Women can still be given authority to become teachers in the church such as those who counsel exclusively to women's needs, teach Sunday school and be schoolteachers. We read in the Bible of women in the ministry such as Miriam, Deborah, Huldah and Anna. They were termed as prophetesses or female prophets. However, we have to consider that Miriam's rebellion and challenge of Moses' authority didn't ...

Honoring God's Pastor Also as a Teacher of God's Word

Image
There is the statement that the pastor is a teacher but the teacher is not a pastor. So how is the pastor also a teacher? The pastor simultaneously preaches and teaches the Word of God to people. There is a difference between teaching and preaching. His job as a preacher is to proclaim the Word of God to the world. His job as a teacher is to teach others more details on the Word of God, how to win souls and how to grow in grace in the Christian faith. Matthew 28:18-20 has Jesus telling His disciples to teach all things that He has commanded them. The eleven disciples were told that their mission was not only to preach but also teach all nations. That cements the very truth that the pastor is indeed called not only to preach but also to teach. We have to remember that in John 21:15-17 where Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep. So what is Peter told to feed the sheep with? As the first ordained pastor of the Christian church - Peter certainly had a huge task. Jeremiah 3:15 says that G...

If Some Non-Christian Schools Wouldn't Even Allow Playing Poker Inside Their Campuses Then How Much More Should Christian Schools Not Allow It?

Image
It's been 20 years since incident some time ago when I was a teenager when a Christian school dared to actually suspend at least 17 students (for three days) for playing poker inside the campus. Although some crazy parents tried to reason it out that there was no money involved but they got suspended anyway. Then I entered College and observed that even if a non-Christian university or other non-Christian schools (ex. Roman Catholic and non-religious schools) wouldn't allow students to play cards and gambling in their campuses then how much more would Christian schools even allow such activity? So what's really wrong with gambling paraphernalia in school? The school is a learning institution and not a recreational place so everything that causes distract is forbidden. Another, every little sin can pile up into a huge mess. It's just like if you don't clean up the bird droppings or dog poop then expect the whole place to get full of such dirt. Everything can star...

Why Christian Schools Shouldn't Be Afraid of Being Compared to the Military

Image
It's a common complain that Christian education is being called as a military form of education. It's even more shameful that some "Christian" education even end up with some form of Antinomianism where children should be allowed to run around and shout. Dedicated Baptist and Evangelical schools are also criticized by some Roman Catholic schools as being too much like a military. But the Bible says that the Christian life is that of a soldier. Sorry, I didn't say it. The Word of God said it. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 - Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.  Did you read that? The Christian life is called to be a soldier of Jesus Christ. One must endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Christian education isn't meant to fit in with the world. Rather, it should teach its soldiers how to overcome the w...
