Three Erroneous Ways Unsaved Sinners Disrespect God's Law

God's Law is really offensive, isn't it? The Law itself its offensive for this reason. Martin Luther called it a hammer that smashes our self-righteousness, a mirror that reveals our sinfulness and a whip that drives us to the cross. Galatians 3:24 calls the Law as a schoolmaster to teach right from wrong. Romans 3:19 reveals that the Law of God reveals all our sins and all stand guilty before it. Unfortunately, there are three erroneous ways that sinful man could look at God's Law.

First, we have the problem of man thinking that they are right before the Law or that they can make it to Heaven their way

We have the problem where man hates the idea that they are not basically good or that they are good enough to enter Heaven. The idea is very wrong as James 2:10-11 says that it only takes one sin to forfeit one's entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. Do you even think you are not safe from the list in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10? If you think you are then you are just downright wrong as Romans 3:10-19 reveals the very unrighteousness of man. In short, the Law is hated because it shows sinful men the plain hard truth that they have fallen short of the righteousness of God. Worse, the Law shows us that there's the need of salvation by grace through faith - a concept that is alien to the self-righteous.

Second, we have the problem of people who turn salvation by grace through faith as a license to sin instead of something that delivers from sin

If thinking that you are good enough to enter Heaven is a way to Hell then so is Antinomianism. The very idea that God's grace is a license to sin is a mark of a false convert (Jude 1:4). You can go ahead and misquote Ephesians 2:8-9 while Ephesians 2:10 reveals that good works are equipped unto the believer. Romans 6 explains that the very idea of grace as a license to sin is absolutely erroneous. Titus 2:11-14 says that God's grace teaches righteous living. How should anybody who claim to be a Christian yet claim that you can be saved and never change be treated? Only false converts think that they have a license to sin. True converts don't want to keep sinning anymore and long for that day that they would be delivered from sin.

Third, it's to promote the ridiculous notion that only the Jews need to follow the Moral Law of God

This is one of the most ridiculous claims that only Jews need to obey God. This is the problem of not considering the context. Some say that if it's Old Testament then it's automatically irrelevant. Others accuse Christians of double standard because they eat pork and go against homosexuality - never mind that many sins condemned in the Old Testament are still condemned in the New Testament. The very idea that only Jews need to follow the Law of God is erroneous. What about what Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 where the disciples are commissioned to obey God's moral law? It's really unimaginable that God wouldn't implement His standards throughout humanity and only to the Jewish people. Such a view is indeed erroneous because God's Law is for all to follow.
