Lost People Love Christmas Until They Realize the Bad News Behind Why Jesus Was Born in Human Flesh

It's no doubt that it's just a few days before Christmas. Christmas has been a time to look forward to for merrymaking (some even do it to the point of getting too drunk to do it), get together with the families, receiving a special year-end Christmas bonus and children look forward to their Christmas gifts. But do they ever even realize the ugly message of Christmas?

Let's take a look at the reality of the Christmas message that gets read. We can read it in Matthew's and Luke's first two chapters. Matthew 1:21 says that Jesus came to save His people from their sins. Luke 1:47 has Mary declaring her need for a Savior. This addresses the ugly reality that man isn't basically good. The message of man's total depravity is offensive to mankind because men are prone to believe that they are basically good.

The idea of man being basically good is a stranger to Scripture. One could go ahead and argue but Romans 3 talks about the total depravity of man. James 2:10-11 says that if you break even one law then you have broken the entire standard of God's perfection. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says that the unrighteous shall not inherit or enter God's Kingdom. Problem is everyone has entered the unrighteous list even for breaking one simple commandment! All Adam and Eve needed to do was to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil to forever forfeit the Garden of Eden!

Why was Jesus even born in human form? Why did He leave God the Father's right hand to become a man? It's because no one could keep the whole Law. It wouldn't make sense for Jesus to leave Heaven and to become a man if mankind was basically good. The message is loud and clear that all men are born sinners. Jesus' incarnation was necessary so He could live a perfect life and pay for sins on the cross. This message is still continuously mocked until today. But many will soon regret too late on the Great White Throne Judgment for such a foolish decision to reject their need for a Savior from sin!
